HYDROELECTRIC OF TUCURUÍ

The Hydroelectric of Tucuruí is located about 300 km to the south of Belém, in the Tocantins river. Its current capacity is of 4 million kilowatts. But president Fernando Henrique Cardoso already authorized the workmanships of duplication of the Plant. When these workmanships will be concluded, its capacity will double eaching 8 million kilowatts. It will serve of basic infrastructure for the installation of industrial complexes of the sector of mining and other, and, at the same time, it will make possible the implantation of farming and agro-industrial projects.
