Bible Stories As Blueprints Of The Soul: The Secret Of Cain & Abel – an essay (English Edition) eBook Kindle
from the introduction:
"Contrary to what many people think, the bible is not a history or fantasy book. Rather, it's a complex code of systematically intertwined symbols which in its entirety can be understood as a record or blueprint of inner dynamics within the psychological realities of human beings.
In this way, each and every story in the bible is not a depiction of historical or legendary circumstances but a mirror of our very own inner life. By decoding these stories and characters we can reveal the hidden connections between seemingly random thoughts and feelings and entirely different dimensions of being."

The Peshat, Remez, Derash and Sod have begun to resonate within me. More specifically, the Derash - that is looking inside, the "try to knowing oneself" - plays a fundamental role: thanks to the author, the key for look inside the story beginning with the intrinsic meaning of words Cain and Abel, who cease to be nouns to become "qualifiers", much more fundamental than the typical symbology that one can perceive from a classic reading of history. The Sod, or better: the Sod technique, of Pardes is for me certainly guided by Eti Shani because she provides a practical and concrete decoding key technique. Eti Shani's book literally "exploded inside me" from the very first hours after reading it. This book is the gasoline for that engine to which I referred first.
It's sad that classical translations of the Old Testament are so too Peshat, too superficial: prevent the common person from appropriating a book that is part of him. And Eti Shani, with few words, has perhaps proved that the Bible is also closer to a book of psychology than the simple classical "Bible Book".
Just the right length and very readable, Eti builds rapport with the reader in the introduction by offering her work as a means by which one might discover new perspectives on these ancient tales through a reading of the heart rather than strictly the linear thinking mind.
Far from a biblical student, mine is a more "Cliff Notes" understanding of the story of Cain and Abel. Yet, in her description of the tale I could clearly see duality at play in the relationship of these two brothers; as if their story was the inception of this learning ground of contrast we call life.
Using her own real-life examples of how aspects of each brother are alive within her, Eti invites us to recognize the same within ourselves. I appreciated the historical points and root word meanings she intertwined throughout the text. In using them to create a greater context with which to perceive the story, she also again effortlessly invites the reader to apply these perspectives to their own life.
Eti unites the reader with all life by acknowledging that aspects of both brothers are alive within us, all aspects serve a purpose and, eventually, lead us to the kingdom within...when we are ready to awaken the dormant seed within the heart.
