Descrição do produto

Two nights after her eighteenth birthday, Lily is attacked while out jogging but is saved by Tharin Lunar, a Sidhe prince. When she discovers her attacker is her own brother, Lucas, who disappeared four years ago, Lily refuses to believe he would truly hurt her and becomes determined to find Lucas and bring him home. She finds Lucas's disappearance is somehow tied to Tharin; so when he informs her that she is his betrothed and must return with him to Velesi, fulfill a treaty between their families and unite the two strongest clans through their marriage, Lily agrees. However, she is not going to Velesi for a wedding, but to bring home her only family, Lucas.

On their journey to the borders of Velesi, the realm of the Thirteen Clans, they are pursued by a Sidhe assassin group call the Ange, meet with an ogre crime lord that ends badly, deal with a sleazy troll motel manager, and when they discover there is a bounty on their heads, they must keep one step ahead of every assassin, bounty hunter and low-life criminal from Velesi.

Protecting Lily has become the biggest challenge of Tharin's life. Lucky for him he has help in the form of his twin brother, Tolan, Lily's best friend Julia and his three bodyguard cousins – Alorn, Phoris and Mellis.

5.0 de 5 estrelas Review: The Binding by L. Filloon 8 de julho de 2016
Por Kim Justice - Publicada na Amazon.com
Formato: eBook Kindle Compra verificada
All right readers, another fantasy only this one has some twist that you don't quite see coming. Author L. Filloon has a way with words and creative story building that leaves you wanting to learn more not only the main characters but the others as well. It has been a little bit since I read this first book in the series, The Velesi Trilogy #1. But let me say that I will be checking out the next book. And if it is like the first I will be getting the third not long after. The cover caught my eye right off the bat, and I knew I needed to find out who this lady was sitting here with a beautiful big black cat. As you can see it only shows part of her face. But this cover is gorgeous!

Now for the characters let me say that I could tell that the author had started out with some of the back ground but left them to grow the more you read. In other words they pulled me in a little at a time. Always wanting and hoping that in the next chapter it would tell me more. I am not going to give away any of the book. The Synopsis is great to pull you in if you love mystery, intrigue, fantasy, love stories of young being promised to each other but not sure after growing up if it is what they want. Then this book or series is for you. So for the reasons above I will be giving this book (and if I had a higher one I would give more)

My Breath Of Life Rating of:

Five Clock Rating!!

Along with her she brings her close friend not just for company but to also protect her from her abusive stepfather and step brother that used her as their own personal punching bag, but Tharins twin Tolan falls for the beaten Julia and well do anything to help her accept him. Well Lily's brother that may not be a brother, but there is her actual twin brother she dont know existed is also out to kill her. This is not a bad full length story but there is a lot of back and forth between Lily and Tharin but also the emotions are mixed up.

3.0 de 5 estrelas Awkward, and rather Juvenile 7 de fevereiro de 2013

And yes, I realize that it is supposed to be a YA book. This is way too elementary for most teens, however. So maybe younger? Well, it does have a bad word or two, but the main reason it wouldn't be appropriate for the pre-teen reader is because of the frequent rough and abusive incidents between the main characters. If it wasn't for that, I'd say that the immature romances were indications that the 18 year old girls and hundred year old 'boys' were actually grammar school aged kids in the throes of puberty.

It's not that I don't enjoy juvenile. I did, after all, enjoy the Twilight and Harry Potter series.

I won't bother going into the plot (which was actually rather good), because so many other reviewers already have done so. I liked the storyline, and the action was good. The writing style of jumping between the two main characters didn't work well for me, simply because it wasted a lot of print by repeating the same scene over again from only a slightly different perspective.

Even with all the issues mentioned above, I did kind of like the writer's ideas. I also think that the author showed real promise now and then throughout the book; for instance when the group met a Dryad and her Oak tree. That chapter was well written, and as I read it I felt emotionally connected.

Will I read the next book in this Trilogy? Maybe, although I resent that this one ended so abruptly with a cliffhanger.....

3.0 de 5 estrelas Young Adult 19 de maio de 2012

This was very young adult and at many times juvenile writing. Very immature and at times annoying characters. I started to like Tolan the brother of one of the main characters until he had this love at first sight with another character Julia. They went from fighting to him just grabbing her and kissing her. I think the author was trying for passion but just doesn't seem to get there. The scenes were very choppy and it didn't seem as if the author had a clear idea about the character development. The main character doesn't have anything to hold my interest. Good start for writing but definitely needs some development.

3.0 de 5 estrelas Good book Bad ending 25 de abril de 2013

I love most of the story. Some things irked me. First I hate a cliff hanger ending that leaves things completely unfinished. Almost like half a book. I took off a star for that. Next was the complete lack of communication between the two main characters. Thearin not telling his bonded that he has broke things off with Kearin and is not in love with her was just the worst kind if stupidity. You love someone and you are trying to get them to care for you, you don't leave them hangings thinking you love someone else! Not the behavior of a future king. I know it was used by the author to build tension, but it just built anger at the author in me for using such a badly thought out unrealistic ploy.
