So far, I’m about halfway through, and the book does not disappoint. It’s different to many of the other business titles that I’ve read for a couple of reasons:
1) It’s a great mix of both theory and practical examples from people and organisations who have been there, done it and got the scars to prove it.
2) It’s written by two people who have built an extremely successful business by taking the advice they’ve shared in the book. This is tried and tested and it works.
I love the variety of case studies throughout and how there is something for everyone from the ‘quite rebellious’ to ‘off the scale rebel’.
Each chapter does a great job outlining the key things to strive for if you are to make a change in your organisation around a particular layer of The Engagement Bridge, however, I think my favourite thing in each chapter is the section called ‘Making a start’. Change is scary for many of us and this section of the book helps to break that change down into bitesize chunks. It reminds you that you don’t have to do a complete 360 overnight, you just have to start somewhere.
What really brings it to life are the anecdotal examples throughout. If you run a business or manage teams and want to explore best practice in employee engagement you should read this book!
If you have ever wanted to have one book that opens a gateway to ideas and solution to HR problems then this is the book for you.
It looks at ten really important HR aspects (these are the elements of the Bridge - its central theme), delivering a range of starting point solutions, dos, don'ts and also real-life examples of what others have done - that way you can borrow the ones you like to fit in with your own requirements.
Written in an easy to follow style, absent of jargon, it with be a well dog-eared book in my collection within no time.
I got an early advance copy of the book, so feel pretty happy to have read it before the launch date too.
The Rebel Playbook provides the best (and most candid) overview of how businesses need to operate and what they need to do if they are going to truly engage with their people, keep them longer and get the most out of them. It is an easy to read book and something highly recommended if you want to make a difference to your employees and your business.
Build it breaks down the 10 key components that are essential to creating an engaged workforce and explains how to utilise everyday business functions as useful tools for employee engagement. There are lots of great examples from a range of businesses (in size and industry sector) to illustrate how implementing small changes can have a huge impact on how your teams work and perform.
I absolutely recommend reading this book if you're looking to build teams that are highly motivated, loyal, engaged and ultimately HAPPY to work for you.
