Descrição do produto

Everyone knows that all’s fair in love and war. But these two will learn that sabotage is a dish best served naked.

The first standalone romance by New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Christina Lauren (Beautiful Bastard) is a sexy, compulsively readable romantic comedy that dives headlong into the thrill and doubt of modern love.

Despite the odds against them from an embarrassing meet-awkward at a mutual friend’s Halloween party, Carter and Evie immediately hit it off. Even the realization that they’re both high-powered agents at competing firms in Hollywood isn’t enough to squash the fire.

But when their two agencies merge—causing the pair to vie for the same position—all bets are off. What could have been a beautiful, blossoming romance turns into an all-out war of sabotage. Carter and Evie are both thirtysomething professionals—so why can’t they act like it?

Can Carter stop trying to please everyone and see how their mutual boss is really playing the game? Can Evie put aside her competitive nature long enough to figure out what she really wants in life? Can their actor clients just be something close to human? Whether these two Hollywood love/hatebirds get the storybook Hollywood ending, or just a dramedy of epic proportions, you get to enjoy Christina Lauren’s heartfelt, hilarious story of romance in the modern world.

Apesar dos protagonistas super carismáticos, achei a narrativa arrastada.
Mas é bem escrito e lida com temas contemporâneos de maneira verossímil.

I loved loved loved the Beautiful and Wild series. This book just isn't at the same level. It was a 'very nice' romance but I wished for more zing between them. If this were a movie in the theatres I would say wait until it releases on DVD. $7.99 for Kindle is expensive.

I am an absolute fan of the writing duo Christina Lauren and have religiously read their Beautiful Series & Wild Series. If you have read just only one of those books, you would understand how brilliant this duo are.
But unfortunately I have to say this one just didn't come up to par. For most of the book there was this tit for tat element, which admittedly this was the thing I enjoyed most overall - but when it came to Evil & Carter getting together it felt rushed. They hook up and then there were the I love you's thrown about. It just didn't feel genuine or realistic.
Another reviewer said they hoped this isn't the start of a new series, and I would like to second that. I hope this dynamic duo brushes their hands off and move on to something totally different from this one.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy via Netgalley.

Definitely not my favorite Christina Lauren. I actually really liked both characters, and I actually laughed out loud at a few of the antics, but it seemed like the authors had to fill the book with way too much detail about the hollywood industry to fill up the book. There was no real personal growth on the character's part, and I found myself pushing to get through the book. I loved BB, BS, and BP, and was a bit disappointed with this one.

5.0 de 5 estrelas Hilarious banter make for comedic gold in Dating You/Hating You. 26 de junho de 2017

When Carter and Evie meet at a Halloween party, they have the kind of chemistry that makes you move mountains to be with each other. Unfortunately for these two, fate steps in and throws a wrench in their plans. Finding out they are basically competing for the job they love, this turns them from a possibility into enemies before they know what hits them.
Christina Lauren's writing is on point, the story flows, the characters come alive, and you can cut the tension with a knife. Enemies-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and these writers do it amazing justice. Dating You/Hating You has a bit of a different feel than some of their other books, it's more drawn out, more storyline and less sexy action. Don't let that deter you though, there is still plenty of steam, it's just more a slow-burn in my eyes. Absolutely loved Carter and Evie's story, I hope we get to see them again sometime!

2.0 de 5 estrelas More Women's Fiction Than Romance 9 de junho de 2017
Por Shelee BRC - Publicada na Amazon.com

Instead of being a lust-filled, enemies-to-lovers romance between battling co-workers, Dating You / Hating You felt entirely more like Women's Fiction. This fantastic duo perfected the office romance with their debut novel Beautiful Bastard and I expected something similar in substance due to the fact that Evie and Carter are both fighting for the same position in their cut-throat world. What started off as a promising read soon turned into a novel that took me three weeks to finish. Something of which is entirely unusual for a CLO read.

When the book first opened, I fully enjoyed Evie and Carter's quirky personalities, their unique somewhat-nerdy selves, and the sweet but hot connection they shared when forced together at a couples party. From there the novel turned into an inner-dialogue heavy novel with little relationship progression between the two; even the battling portions of the book didn't further their arcs as two people who were meant-to-be, but instead further separated them. The sexual undercurrents weren't there and I lost sight of the fact that these two people were physically or emotionally attracted to one another. There was no buildup or a real sense of how they developed any sort of strong feelings. With the sort of trope this story involves, one expects a degree of forward movement and build-up of tension to feel the inner warring of why these two both wanted and hated each other and how that conflict played out in both anger and lust.

One aspect I did enjoy was the way Christina Lauren focused on the gender disparities in the workplace and how that affected Evie's career in comparison to Carter's. I loved Evie's tenacity and drive to keep pushing forward even with those issues constantly pushing her back, and I fully admired how Carter took such delicate care with helping her. While I fully enjoyed this aspect of the story, it feels as if this topic overtook the story. It became more about this than the romance, more about this than their connection, more about this than the character development. And suddenly it lost all it needed to be a Romance.

It kills me to rate a book of theirs so low, it really does. I was so looking forward to this book and am really disheartened that I didn't enjoy it. I know many will still enjoy it and I'm glad they will. I am greatly looking forward to their next novel as I won't let my non-love of this one take away from my reading more of theirs as I love their storytelling and writing...this one just didn't work for me and that happens every once in awhile.
