With the experience in Brazil, the objective of this work is to demonstrate how to diagnose and identify the strengths and weaknesses of production management in companies of different sectors, with the objective of providing aid subsidies for investment decisions, strategic information and opportunities to improve processes through the Lean Production focus. The conduct of the Enterprise Diagnostic Method (EDM), according to the Lean approach, goes through workshops for self-assessments in the company with a broad questionnaire, the applications of the Value Stream Mapping tool (VSM) or in the operations and services of the company, which allows planning actions for a better management of the team capacity and to orient Hoshin planning and Strategic Management in a more integrated
and sustainable way. The EDM applications give as a result a quantitative evaluation of the maturity degree of the business organization, applying and considering the concepts related to Value Stream Mapping, Lean Production, Capacity Management, Grey System and Industrial Benchmarking. The study has as objective to create the conditions to help middle and high management decisions in short a middle terms through definition of processes, designs, performance improvement of actions in the organization according to the alignment to Strategic Management (Hoshin Kanri) and the focus and principles of Lean Production.
