Resenha da Amazon.com.br

Once again using an astutely written fictional tale to unambiguously but painlessly deliver some hard truths about critical business procedures, Patrick Lencioni targets group behavior in the final entry of his trilogy of corporate fables. And like those preceding it, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team is an entertaining, quick read filled with useful information that will prove easy to digest and implement. This time, Lencioni weaves his lessons around the story of a troubled Silicon Valley firm and its unexpected choice for a new CEO: an old-school manager who had retired from a traditional manufacturing company two years earlier at age 55. Showing exactly how existing personnel failed to function as a unit, and precisely how the new boss worked to reestablish that essential conduct, the book's first part colorfully illustrates the ways that teamwork can elude even the most dedicated individuals--and be restored by an insightful leader. A second part offers details on Lencioni's "five dysfunctions" (absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment, avoidance of accountability, and inattention to results), along with a questionnaire for readers to use in evaluating their own teams and specifics to help them understand and overcome these common shortcomings. Like the author's previous books, The Five Temptations of a CEO and Obsessions of an Extraordinary Executive, this is highly recommended. --Howard Rothman

Resenha Especializada

"As compelling, readable and practical as his other books. I'm sure this will be another business classic." --Richard Carr, President & CEO, TEC International

"Every manager and executive will recognize themselves somewhere in this book. Lencioni distills the problems that keep even the most talented teams from realizing their full potential. Even more important, he shows -- in prose that is crisp, clear, and fun to read -- how to solve them." --Geoffrey A. Moore, Chairman, The Chasm Group, Author, Crossing the Chasm; Inside the Tornado; Living on the Fault Line

"I read most best-selling business books. What sets Lencioni apart is his ability to provide insightful and practical solutions to complex management challenges." --Phillip Hildebrand, Executive VP and Chief Distribution Officer, New York Life Insurance Company

"A gripping analysis of what makes teams work effectively. This fine work is a must read for any leader that has come to grips with the fact that no one makes progress — much less succeeds - alone." --James Amos, president and CEO, Mail Boxes, Etc.

"Compelling and incisive, this will become the definitive guide on how to build and manage successful teams." --Jean Kovacs, president and CEO, Comergent Technologies

5.0 de 5 estrelas In combination with the concepts from Blanchard's One Minute Manager ... 23 de abril de 2017
Por Jay Kay - Publicada na Amazon.com
Formato: Capa dura Compra verificada
In combination with the concepts from Blanchard's One Minute Manager (especially the first one and Leadership and the One Minute Manager) this book completes a "how-to" of personnel management. If you treat One Minute Manger advice as stuff you SHOULD DO, and use Lencioni's warnings of dysfunction as examples of stuff you and your team SHOULD NOT DO, (that is to say, don't let the dysfunctions happen) you will strike a balance of masterful skill in leadership and management.

4.0 de 5 estrelas Some great points about necessity of open debate, but flawed method of bringing it about 31 de agosto de 2015
Por Robert Shuler - Publicada na Amazon.com
Formato: Capa dura Compra verificada
The point about team members being willing and able to debate substantive issues without fear is very representative of the way successful teams worked at NASA in the 1960s through about 1985, and so this point is, I believe, correct. Further, the idea that very top management must be on board with this idea for it to work is also correct, because if management disapproves of conflict and disagreement, it will reassign people and destroy teams that discuss and debate openly.

However, the fictional (non-empirical) idea that a manager can create such a team by kicking off the people who disagree violates the very trust and freedom from retaliation principles that are necessary at the base of the pyramid, and I believe this reflects the author's lack of actual experience at other than consulting.

3.0 de 5 estrelas Good enough, but incomplete 13 de junho de 2014
Por Allan Elder - Publicada na Amazon.com
Formato: eBook Kindle Compra verificada
I really enjoy this material, however, in my opinion, it's incomplete. It does an adequate job of explaining the 5 Dysfunctions, but unless you have some knowledge of many other tools and techniques, it does not offer any real methods for implementing the ideas. It's like they wrote this to introduce people to the Dysfunctions and expect them to go to the training to find out how to fix them. As a consultant and trainer, I have to supplement these concepts extensively to make them usable for clients. A good example is the first Dysfunction (Trust). While the book explains its importance and some basic ideas to increase trust, if you don't use an instrument such as the DISC, MBTI, SDI, or similar tool, you can't just improve trust. Different types of people have completely different issues in relation to overcoming trust issues.

3.0 de 5 estrelas Very good breakdown 16 de dezembro de 2016
Por Basic guidelines - Publicada na Amazon.com
Formato: eBook Kindle Compra verificada
The breakdown of common problems experienced by teams is done very well. I enjoyed the latter half of the book much better than the first half. Though the story did manage to illustrate a few of the challenges a leader may face while trying to "grow" their team, it seemed very stiff. I did not feel that the story offered as much insight as the breakdown of each dysfunction in the second portion. I felt three stars was fair as I could have saved time by skipping the first part.
5.0 de 5 estrelas Should be required reading for everyone in a leadership position 24 de maio de 2016

I've read a lot of leadership books, and this one is my favorite. It's told in a fable setting with a made-up company and staff. The ideas presented about developing a team seem obvious, but when you dig deeper, you realize how challenging it can be. There's a lot of insight offered here, and it's great to reference back to.

I've read it once and listened to it on Audible twice. I give it to all the leaders I help develop and they all love it. It's easy reading, but presents it in a non-threatening way. Definitely should be required reading for all managers.
