Descrição do produto

The vampire Roke is raw, sensual, always in control. Yet somehow he's allowed the unthinkable to happen: a nymph-like witch named Sally has used her magic to trick Roke into mating with her. The pair will remain bound for eternity unless Sally breaks the spell. The trouble is, she has no idea how. . .

Mating with Roke was an accident; at least that's what Sally keeps telling herself. She's on the hunt for her demon father, whose identity holds the key to releasing the spell. The search won't be easy with Roke shadowing Sally's every move. As they mate with a ferocity that leaves them both aching for more, Sally isn't sure if her world is more dangerous without Roke--or with him. . .

"In book after book, Ivy builds a fascinatingly complex, ever-evolving mythology where dynamic and sometimes stubborn characters collide--with epic results." --RT Book Reviews on Darkness Avenged

"Captivating, sexy, and with a sinful bite like rich dark chocolate." --Larissa Ione on Beyond the Darkness

I was already Ivy’s fan when I requested this book for review over at Net Galley, and was thrilled to receive an advance copy of the book. Ivy’s books are usually great. This one not so much, but still an enjoyable reading.
In the first books in the series, its world had a thrilling dimension to it and the alphas were fearsome: sexy, scary and untamed. Hot. Now they are whipped, too civilized, not only by their mates, but in general.
Our lovely, witty Levet is flat. The plot idea is interesting: a male vampire man is ensorcelled accidentally by a lady witch to be her mate. The two of them want to break this unintended bond, but are drawn to complete the bond instead.
The background plot is the investigation to figure out her heritage, from an unknown father. But it got off track. It loses itself because it has not been really explored in depth.Roke’s story, which could have been great, didn’t live up to my expectations took me longer than usual to finish. Turn out that neither Roke, nor Sally are leading material as they could be.

5.0 de 5 estrelas Still thoroughly entertaining vampire fare without unending angst. 29 de dezembro de 2016

Another enticing, in your face set of characters by Alexandra Ivy. Clan chief Roke, magically mated to a demon of unknown origin, and Sally, the witch/demon who caste the mating spell, argued and bickered and misunderstood each other through travails and killings and betrayals enough to wear anyone down. On a search to find her father in order to remove the mating, Roke and Sally settled the disappearing fey mystery, ended bad demons and found each other. Feisty dialogue, some sensuality and fine adventure maintained my interest and had me happy to be involved in this paranormal/fantasy/crazy-trying to-find-some-balance world filled with vampires and every other "not human" being. The books of this series can be stand alone but I cannot imagine truly enjoying the series as much without beginning with book one.

5.0 de 5 estrelas Awesome Story in Continuing Series 28 de maio de 2014

This story could be read as a stand-alone, but it is much more exciting if you have read the series in order. The book is very fast paced and is hard to put down once you start reading. There are visits from beloved characters from previous books. There is action, magic, steamy romance and all kinds of paranormal beings. Sally, the female lead really changed and grew as the book progressed. Roke is a very hot vampire that any woman would love to claim for herself! I highly recommend giving this series a try!

*********SPOILER****************
The only negative thing about this story was a few very obvious things that were missed by the editors/proof readers. The one error was like a flashing neon sign because such a big deal was made about Roke's motorcycle. He tells Sally that it cost half a million dollars. In shock, Sally repeats the amount. They both say it again. A while later in the book, it is referred to as costing a quarter of a million. Really? Did Roke suddenly forget how much it cost him?
5.0 de 5 estrelas Although I enjoy Ms. Ivy's other stories 14 de março de 2015

Although I enjoy Ms. Ivy's other stories, the Guardians of Eternity are my favorite of her series. Vampires, Demons, Werecats, Fey, and my favorite little gargoyle "Levet" - what more can you ask for? The storylines are great and so is the way she brings her main characters (and the ones from previous books to help out) to life make for great reading. They are always on my can't wait for the next one to come out list. I can recommend this one and the previous Guardians of Eternity books very highly.
3.0 de 5 estrelas I liked it but...... 2 de setembro de 2014

In the series beginning the world was new and the alpha's were almost scary; sexy, but scary and untamed. Now they seem whipped not only by their mate, but in general.

This installment is a perfect example. Roke was a minor clan chief a book or two back, and not what I would call starring role material. Sally; however, had/has potential with her "new Fae" blood and witchy strength to bring enthusiasm back to the series. She could have been so strong and ready to stand up to any "demon" and use that strength to whip her mate into her own personal alpha with Sally being the only person who could control him. Instead he chases her all over the place with Levet no less, even though Roke, Sally, all Vampires, their allies and the Fae all believe the mating to be fake and well, it fell short for me.

I did like the new Fae coming into this. I am hoping that Fallon (Sally's sister) is the one who kidnapped the big strong untamable Cyn (Roke's Buddy) and not the other way round. Fallon obviously can have powers and strengths unheard of in this series being from a new type of Fae. The sky is the limit. Cyn seems much more alpha and untamable, and I would like to see that match if done right. Sally's father (the king) should also be interesting in the play of things.

I used to really like Levet. Now Levet is getting tiresome. I still like him, but they all seem to dote on him now and it doesn't feel right. Let one of the Vamps kick him, loose him, lock him up... something! Just been there, done that kind of feeling.

In all I guess I would like more "edge" and less tameness to the plot and characters. Give me some unexpected oracle anger, unwarranted demon magic or some unsolicited silvermyst interference to go with my totally untamed, unsocial, tradition ridden Vamps and Weres ! I don't want the same story over and over again with just different names.

OH; and the oracles..... Are they a governing body, the demons boogeyman or what? If every preternatural being is scared to death of them, don't want to be around them, hear from them and/or help them; but do as they say.... what are the oracles to the demons?? Exactly. It has not been really explored in depth. And obviously with this installment we know they are not "all knowing" as they were duped for who knows how long by the imposter. The Oracles have the potential to add that edge to the plots too instead of being a constant threat with no real story.

I will continue to read these and hope for some new twists, turns, bites and burns.

Hunt the Darkness (Guardians of Eternity) Alexandra Ivy

“WARNING” once you start this read you will not be able to put it down. Make sure you don’t have to wake up for work the next morning. It’s that good!!!!

From Page one chapter one this read had me on the edge of my seat, holding my breath and cussing out loud. Seriously it is that good.

Roke is the Clan Chief of the Nevada Vamps and is 100% Alpha. He’s considered a loner and doesn’t let anyone get close. His main purpose is to protect his clan period. Deep down he’s been walking around with a guilt that was like a cancer eating away at him. His Clan Chief was murdered along with his mate and he found out his Sire was the one who did it to speed his fate along. Then she walked into the sun and he assumed it was because she was ashamed. Roke all these years felt it was his fault and that she didn’t believe he could challenge the Clan Chief and win. It wasn’t until the powerful smart mouthed Witch Sally Grace put it into a different prospective that he stopped blaming himself.

Sally Grace a very very powerful Witch and was very capable of black magic. She had a rough upbringing. Shown no love and abused all her life by her mother and to make matters worse she never knew her father. When she sought refuge by the Vampires she found herself in their dungeons. They didn’t trust her. When Roke was basically assigned by Styx to babysit the witch for the time being an unexpected spark occurred between both Sally and Roke. You have to understand Vampires hated witches and vice versa so this alone presented a problem. In her anger trying to get out of the cell she accidently put a spell on Roke bonding him to her making her his mate. The words that came out of their mouths can only be imagined. The bond could be broken BUT and that’s a big but she didn’t know who or what her father was. So the hunt begins. With a three week head start on Roke, Sally sets out to find her father. Roke accompanied by Levet finally catches up with her and the trek begins in earnest.

The things Sally and Roke have to endure are unbelievable. Who would have thought a little music box would have caused so much chaos, from being hunted by a mist demon, to Roke almost dying, to poor Sally getting locked away in a cell again and beaten by a member of Roke’s clan.

There were several unexpected revelations with regards to who Sally’s father was and what he was. Even finding her father she realized she meant nothing to him and was there to free him only.

Sally gave Roke’s heart a run for his money. She was so afraid to let anyone in and she was so afraid of depending on anyone and giving her trust, even so Roke did not want the spell broken. In his heart of hearts he knew she was his true mate. But as fate would have it when Sally was basically whisked away against her will by her father and Roke went looking for her, Sally’s father did what she wanted and removed the spell. OMG I choked up but I’m not saying anything you need to read the book. Oh almost forgot, at the end one of Sally’s sister’s Fallon disappears with Roke’s BFF Cyn. So I’m assuming we will be seeing daddy dearest Sariel again. I’m really interested in seeing if the playboy Cyn finally met his mate.
