UnthinKable. UnimagInable.  UndeniabLe.  UnforgivabLe.  SalvageablE.  Redeemable.

Ten years ago, their lives shattered to pieces...
And he's the KILLER that has to live with it.

Two people. One incident. Interwoven between two damaged souls in ways they don't understand.

***This books takes place ten years after a school shooting. Some material may be disturbing***

"The fact I feel anything should let me know I’m headed in the wrong direction, headed down a path of darkness, destruction, and failure. A path that will dig out memories so painful I’ve created an entire persona to avoid dealing with them. Yet I know—I’m going down that path headfirst no questions asked, no matter the outcome.
I might be a monster, but I’m a selfish one."—Keller Keating

"When his strength envelops me, every wrong becomes right, every anxiety melts away, every doubt disappears. I feel calm, safe, whole. The spark of life that’s been missing inside burns bright, lighting me up like a solar flare, sizzling white-hot through my veins. Keller brings me out of the darkness and into the light."—Britton Reeves

Felizmente, não me lembro." (Britt)

E é preciso que dez anos passem e os acontecimentos fiquem para trás para que eles se encontrem. E tipo, não é um reencontro porque oficialmente nenhum dos dois se conheciam antes, exceto a Britton, só que agora ela não lembra dele.

Going into reading this book I was not sure how it was going to turn out. It was an emotional roller coaster that felt me thinking about it a few days later. As indicated in the blurb this story takes place after a school shooting and what I love about what Leigh does is she focuses on the two victims rather than the actual event. In the beginning we are introduced to Keller (Killer) who comes across as this self-absorbed teenage kid having a good time. The next chapter we are introduced to Britt who is a normal teenager getting through the life of high school. Until they find themselves victims of a school shooting and their both lives are changed forever. We don’t know the exact details of that day, because the story fast forwards ten years later and we find Britt working at a fighters training facility. There isn’t a lot of backstory so as a reader you have to just trust the writer and keep reading. Keller is now an MMA fighter returning to the US after being overseas. The connection between Britt and Keller is instant but they don’t know what their other connection is other than what is right in front of them. I loved Britt as a character because she didn’t take anyone’s nonsense when they try to treat her like glass. She does not play the victim even though her mother keeps pushing her to. Keller is hiding a lot of pain and has suffered greatly. He keeps to himself and doesn’t let anyone see past the walls he built up, until Britt came along. The story follows their relationship and how two damaged people learn to love and trust each other. There were some pretty intense dark moments within the book but at the same time there is a lot of love between the two characters. There were a few events that were a bit predictable (the incident with the creepy co-worker) but the story overall was amazing. I would definitely suggest to read this one.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I had great expectations for this one, and I just couldn't love it. It started great. Grabbed my interest, and for the first may be half of the book I was really invested in the story, but then something happened and it lost steam for me. I think it had to do with the fact that I felt like it was a little over the top. Their instant attraction to each other felt a little overplayed. The didn't really spend that much time together, their interactions were pretty superficial (just the very intense physical relationship), but with no real substance. They didn't really get to know each other, they didn't know anything about each other, their background, family, life, etc. Yet they both fall madly in love. I just didn't feel such strong feelings were justified. The kind of physical relationship (sexual) they had (violent, pain involved) is not my cup of tea, but I can understand why it was like that within the plot, even though I didn't love it. I think they both should have had psychological therapy after the tragic events that happened, but I guess that's not how the author wanted to tell this story.
Overall this wasn't a bad book, but it's not going to be on my favorites list. I enjoyed it, liked the epilogue a lot, but I was expecting a little more from it.

5.0 de 5 estrelas Absolutely Best Read Ever 26 de março de 2016

Above says everything that needs to be said about what this book is about. I first saw this book at the recent Authors in the City 2016 signing. It was my first time meeting author Heather C. Leigh and she has this book on her table display and the cover grabbed my attention. I picked up the book, read the synopsis and said I will be downloading this book and reading it and when I got home I did exactly that. I had to finish the book I was reading so I could hurry and get to this one. Let me say buying this book was well worth every penny spent. This book is so good I spent 2 nights up until 2:30 in the morning reading it. Yeah I was a zombie at work but it was well worth it.

Britton and Keller go to the same high school. She knows who he is, he doesn't know who she is. Keller is the guy all guys envy, the party boy jock who gets all the girls. Britton is the girl who wants to be one of those girls, he has no clue, and she just wishes.

Then the fateful day and both of their lives are completely turned upside down and inside out. Nothing is ever the same for either one of them after that day. Keller heads down a path of destruction and becomes what he thinks he is, he builds up this impenetrable wall, doesn't let anyone near or in, hates himself and everyone around him, it's easier that way.

Britt, fights every day to move on, to survive, to not live in the past, not be a victim. She has suffered a lot from that fateful day so many years ago but she has overcome a lot and has moved on, has a great life working at an MMA gym, all the guys there respect her, and they make her feel "somewhat safe" in her tormented life. Then in walks "Killer" and right away she knows there is something about him.

The two of them together are like fireworks, his magnetic silver eyes, his strength, the smile he has only let her see, for the first time in 10 years she feels something she has never felt "SAFE". For the first time in 10 years he feels something he has never felt "ALIVE".

This may be a happily ever after book, but let me tell you, what Britt and Killer (aka Keller) go through to get there its almost like going through hell and back. The secrets each one is holding onto, the desire each one has, the destruction both can bring, the fight to get there. Makes this book absolutely amazing. They may have a past brought on by a horrible tragedy, but what comes of it, a blessing. Truly the best book I have read so far this year.

This is the first book I have read by this author and didn't know what to expect. I bought this book without reading what it was about, when you have them eyes starring at you, you can't not buy it lol. Once I started reading the warning I thought I wouldn't be able to read it but figured I'd give it a try. I'm so glad that I did! Keller and Britton are both damaged but when they are together, it's like the other holds their missing pieces. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more from this author in the future!!

This was a really heart-wrenching story about once incident that destroys two lives but together they can forge a new life together. A school shooting kills so many people but the only survivor is Britton Reeves. Keller Keating wasn't at the shooting but his younger sister was and she was killed.

Britt was the only survivor of the school shooting and it completely changed her life. She was shot through the head and she had to have surgery. She had to relearn how to do everything, she lost all of her hearing from her left ear, and she gets migraines and has had seizures due to this incident. On occasion she has panic attacks and she has nightmares all the time but she doesn't remember "the incident" itself. She gets bits and pieces sometimes but that's about it. She loves her parents but her mother became a helicopter parent, quit her job, and now works for the organization Students Against School Shootings. Her mother pushes her agenda and her wants on her daughter constantly and everything that happens to Britt is more about attention for her mother than for herself. She works at Souza MMA in Atlanta, Georgia as a Sports Therapist. She feels safe at work because of all the strong fighters there. She doesn't date any fighters and she gets asked out a lot but when Killer starts there, she is finally interested and he makes her feel safe and alive.

Keller goes by Killer now. After his sister was killed, he blamed himself completely. He was supposed to pick her up at school but he forgot and was busy at a party with his friends - drinking and having sex. Soon after his sister was killed, his mother either committed suicide in their pool or accidentally fell in after having too much alcohol and drugs. He got into an altercation with his friend and he went to prison for Assault for 6 months. After that, he first went to Thailand for 5 years and then spent 5 years in Brazil. He trained in fighting and it's the only time he feels "alive." He finally comes back to Atlanta, Georgia only so he can train and fight at Souza MMA. He does everything he can to keep people away from him and he doesn't care if he appears to be a jerk. He's got tattoos all over him and he keeps his sweatshirt over his head and just showing his eyes. Most people when they look in his eyes see only a soulless monster but Britt sees so much more.

Definitely worth reading.
