A Top 10 Kindle Bestseller from a New York Times Bestselling Author!

England, 1815: The eldest of three sisters, Lady Alexandra Chase has always done what was expected of her. But when the man she's loved since her girlhood returns from a long spell abroad, she quite suddenly finds herself hoping the fine lord her brother has picked for her won't propose. She decides that if he does, she'll quite improperly turn him down—that is, until the man of her hopes and dreams informs her he has no intention of marrying her.

The last time Tristan Nesbitt saw Alexandra, he was a common man with no hope of ever wedding the daughter of a marquess. Seven years later, he's now Lord Hawkridge, which should make him eminently suitable for the woman who long ago captured his heart. But a dreadful scandal has tarnished his name in England—a scandal so horrid that marrying Alexandra would ruin not only her flawless reputation but her whole family. For Alexandra's own good, he must fight his relentless desires and stay far away...

Sobre o Autor

Lauren Royal became interested in the Restoration period at the age of 14, when she snuck a valuable first-edition copy of Forever Amber out of her great-uncle’s library. She began amassing a collection of history books and taking copious notes with the intention of someday writing novels of her own. A fourteen-year career as the CEO of her own jewelry store chain delayed those dreams, but she never forgot them. Lauren lives in Southern California with her family. Amber concludes her dazzling jewel trilogy, which began with Amethyst and then Emerald.

3.0 de 5 estrelas Ridiculous. But okay. 20 de agosto de 2016

This story is positively silly, the major problem that the hero may have poisoned his uncle while sleepwalking (and believing this of himself) downright ridiculous! Be serious!
A lot of other aspects of this story are just as stupid.

However, there are parts that are very entertaining, amusing, endearing, and well told.

It's not a bad read.... just not a very good one, either.

Here's my short summary of the happenings, so quit reading now, if you don't care for SPOILERS.
Since childhood, Alexandra has been secretly in love with her older brother's best friend, Tris. He's not titled, so not an eligible future husband.
Years later, however, he inherits a title but is thought to be his uncle's murderer, which makes him a social outcast. Consequently, he is still not an eligible future husband.
So, Alex's brother who's seeking Tris's help with some project insists that Tris keeps his hands off of Alex as not to compromise her and the family. Although he's already kissed her. So, kind of stupid, right? Stay here, man, I need help with some inane project, but don't touch my sister who is tempting you at every turn.
Well, all gentleman and desperate for friendship, Tris agrees. However, he has this affliction: He sleepwalks and does the most indecent things while doing it. For example, he kisses Alex. On another occasion, he starts making love to her in her own bed, and she likes it too much to stop him. Coincidentally, this happens after a ball that is attended by half of the ton. They don't finish the task but are discovered hours later in bed together. Hmmmm? I know, right??! So, she's got no choice but to get married. But wait, there are other men offering their services in this matter ... but alas, she is married to the man she loves.

In the following days, Alex is determined to uncover the true murderer, despite the insistence of anyone who was in the house when Tris's uncle's died that his was a natural death, no murder.
She ignores all of that plus some unlucky events that keep endangering her. Tris believes he is trying to murder her in his sleep for no good reason and has himself locked into a room every night.
In the end, they discover what really happened and also get rid of a crazy maid. And they live HEA.

Something I really didn't like was the side story of the beginning of a love story between Alex's brother and a cousin, probably topic of the next book. One love affair is quite enough for one book imo, how else am I ever going to get invested in that fictional relationship?

I did very much enjoy the recipes at the beginning of each chapter. I'm going to try some of those.

I almost gave up on this one. The story seemed to drag on with little happening between the main characters. I didn't find either of them particularly interesting. The heroine had been in love with the hero for years, and apparently he had feelings for her as well. But he has no title and isn't considered worthy of her. He goes away and she grows up.

When he returns there is a death, and it is rumored he murdered to get the title. Society turns their back on him and he decides he will never marry. He sleepwalks so he isn't sure himself as to whether he committed the crime.

Our heroine is about to accept the proposal of another man when the hero comes back into her life. Her brother never discussed the scandal with her? This was his best friend but the subject never arose? Upon seeing the hero again she cannot bring herself to marry anyone else, even though her brother is insistent he won't agree to her marrying the hero. There are two more sisters to consider.

Where there is a will there is a way. The couple does manage to be together, and the heroine makes it her mission to find out what really happened.

There are supposedly magical recipes and a mystery, but it is pretty dull. I couldn't discover any real spark between the two main characters.

Took me several weeks to read but I just kept hoping it would get better. Book was too long. Little or no plot except at the end. Romantic scenes came so late in the book and the first time he did that in his sleep? Did all their parents, aunts, uncles etc have to be dead? In a way the author just has very little imagination. Sorry but won't read her again.

Lost in Temptation by Lauren Royal is #1 in a new and what promises to be exciting series, "Regency Chase Family" series.
Lady Alexandra Chase, the eldest of three sisters, has a flawless reputation always the follow the type. Tristan Nesbitt, now, Lord Hawkridge, who is followed by a scandal that could destroy his happiness.
Alexandra and Tristan were childhood friends, however, at the time Tristan was not a Lord.
Who doesn’t love the Chase Family? As the the saga continues.

Steady paced, with well-developed characters and a mesmerizing storyline.
Scandal, deception, passion and romance makes a grand adventure and romp through, Regency England. A great Romance with twists and turns involved in a unique joining of hopefully, two families.
I enjoyed the way Tristan and Alexandra learn to trust each other, again and overcome the obstacles they face, to hopefully, find their HEA.
Ms. Royal has a talent with storytelling, passion and romance. An enjoyable and satisfying read! Strongly recommended for fans of Regency Romance, with strong characters and a stunning storyline!

3.0 de 5 estrelas Decent read 9 de fevereiro de 2015

Overall it was a decent read and kept me engaged enough to finish it, but it didn't "wow" me. The storyline became repetitive and the author took on a lot as it awkwardly shifted from romance to mystery. Parts dragged, the hero became annoyingly weak and depressing. However, the premise was good and the familial relationship rendered life to the characters. The recipe epigraphs were unique and cute.
