Descrição do produto

In this powerful debut novel, a young librarian grieves the loss of her husband...and discovers a love that defies classification.

It's been over three years since a train accident made a widow of Katrina Lewis, sending her and her young daughter Abbey back to the suburban town of her youth...the only place that still makes sense. Lauder Lake is the perfect place to hide and heal.

Recluse rocker Adrian "Digger" Graves survived the implosion of his music career, but his muse has long lain dormant. Until Kat hires him to play at her library—not on the basis of his hard rock credentials but rather, because of the obscure kids' TV jingle he wrote years ago. In a case of mistaken identity, Adrian stumbles into the lives of Kat and her comically lovable daughter.

Using tattoos as a timeline, Adrian unfurls his life for Kat. But as the courtship intensifies, it's unclear whose past looms larger: the widow's or the rocker's. Will their demons ever rest, or will they break these soul mates apart?

To say I am a fan would be an understatement. Jessica Topper's words are so beautiful I want to squeeze them and rub them on my skin. She digs deep into emotion, unearthing layers of character and adding rich detail. If you are a writer, you will pause and marvel at her descriptions. You might have a flash of jealousy, but then you'll just be glad she wrote it, so you can read it. My god, the treadmill scene will turn you inside out. It levels me every time.

LOUDER THAN LOVE is sexy, too. Like old school rocker sexy. Adrian has been there, done that, has regrets, but will rock your world. Did I mention he's British? And Kat is real - and funny - and smart. And her young daughter is charming. Kat has a posse of BFFs, too. Add all that together and you have a smart, sexy, surprising, heart wrenching read. This book will make you crave bagels and a trip to NYC. (Topper loves her NYC and you will feel it's magic.) You'll want to have coffee with your best friend and meet up in an iconic hotel with a new lover. You will want to listen to the Beatles, even if you don't like the Beatles. Or maybe you'll find yourself listening to heavy metal music because you want to get a little closer to Adrian...

This book is a journey for characters and reader. Take it. You will not regret it. (Unless you think it's a New Adult book. Then you might be a little confused, but I bet you'll still love it!) I loved this book!

Emotional and heartbreaking rock star book? Yes, please!

Katrina Lewis, known as Tree to her friends, is a widow with a four year old daughter, Abbey. She’s still grieving the loss of her husband from three years before, but is almost ready for something else now. When she manages to find the singer of her daughter’s favorite song from a British tv show for children, she asks him to entertain the children with a concert at the library where she volunteers. Adrian Graves has been retired from performing for years and years, but he likes the idea of children hearing his old songs that he sang for his child, so he decides to take Tree up on her offer. When the two meet, there’s pretty much chemistry immediately.

Kat, as Adrian calls her, was an interesting character. She’s a wonderful mother, but she has tried to bury the pain of losing her husband deep. Regrettably she doesn’t talk to Adrian about him when she really should. Adrian has his own secrets. He’s lived the major rock star life, been extremely famous in his time, is a recovered drug addict, and decides not to tell Kat the truth. She only knows that he is rich, and a musician. I found it a bit hard to understand how the two could have a relationship without her asking what he does for a living. It made for some angst in the book on the part of Kat at one time so maybe that’s why the author chose to write it that way. One of my favorite characters has to Abbey. She’s pretty precocious and a really sweet child. It’s no wonder that Adrian loves her as much as he loves her mother. There’s plenty of good peripheral characters, Kat’s best friends Marissa, Karen, Liz and Leanna all are pretty fully realized as well as the main characters, to the point that I could tell you things about each one of them-but I won’t.

This is not only a romance, It’s also the story of a woman finding herself again after a great tragedy. Her husband was her life, and along with their baby, they were the perfect little family. When it’s ripped away from her, she has to figure out how to live again as a single mom. Moving back home from New York City was her first step. Surrounded by her parents and lifelong friends, she begins to kind of live again. Meeting Adrian is the icing on the cake. Adrian has his own problems, the loss of his best friend and bandmate after being fired from the band due his drug use, the loss of his career, his divorce, his grown child that doesn’t really know him because he was never home-it all makes for him being a very complex character. Even after all he’s gone through, he’s an extremely likable character, as is Kat.

I thoroughly enjoyed this whole story. It’s for adult romance readers due to sexual situations, but it’s not erotica. Will I read the next book? You betcha! Highly Recommended! (PureTextuality.com)

5.0 de 5 estrelas The best kind of mistaken identity 21 de fevereiro de 2016

In the three years since her husband's tragic death, Katrina Lewis, known as 'Tree' to her friends, has relocated away from the big apple, back to her family home in Lauder Lake. Together with daughter Abbey, she's stumbling her way towards rebuilding her life, together with the support of a close knit group of friends.

No longer a research librarian, she now volunteers at the local library, helping with their children's program, and strangely enough its there that things become interesting.

Since young Abbey is obsessed with a certain children's show, featuring a cat that bears a remarkable resemblance to Sherlock Holmes, and Tree just happened to find a CD of children's songs including the theme song of Maxwell MacGillikitty, Feline Private Eye, she resolves employ her research skills to tracking down the singer, one Adrian Graves, to see if he would be willing to perform for the library's children's group.

Thus two people, each with pasts that they'd rather ignore than face up to, meet, and right from the start sparks begin to fly, and they're not all the good kind one expects in a romance novel.

I've said before that I have a soft spot for stories with children in them and Abbey is right up there with my favorites as a delightful and engaging character who on more than a few occasions threatens to steal the show, but Jessica Topper manages to keep the balance just right between the sweet, innocent and delightful, and the hot, angsty and turbulent aspects of this topsy turvy tale.

I thoroughly enjoyed this steamy tale of the hot rocker mistaken for a children's performer and how, through the new found love they share, each is aided in finding parts of themselves they'd thought lost forever.

discovered this book when someone listed it as a comfort read and I thought I can always take comfort in a rock star.

Oh. This book. I love character driven romance and this love story is wonderful in the complexity of the characters and the rich development of who they are apart, together, and with the people in their lives.

The book is achey dealing with grief of all kinds, trust, past mistakes, current mistakes with hope and risk pushing the plot forward.

The characters are both grown with complete lives, interests, talents, strengths, and failings so the intersection and opportunity of their falling in love is pretty special.
There is just right tension but the heroine does frustrate me a bit when she holds back too long but then so does the hero. They are flawed and yet tactically real and loving.

The book is also a love letter to New York City.

There could be more reckoning with the addition past of the hero but this is quibble because really a what could be more joyous the an British metal post punk rocker? That accent, oy!

I really loved so much about this book and will for sure be keeping on the shelf for when I want to be comforted by a wonderful romance.

While there are some heavier issues, the story didn't ever feel depressing to me. Just like Adrian has to move on from his rocker sex and drugs lifestyle, Kat has to move on in a different way and accept the love of someone new after her husband's death. In a lot of ways she has gone forward, but she's also clinging to her her old life. Even by showing the objects she can't give away (like her husband's coffee mug, which eventually breaks) you see how Kat is living kind of a half life until Adrian shows up. I thought the love story was very believable -- there are some bumps in the road and challenges to overcome, it's not all hearts and flowers.

If you like British guys, and especially rockers, then you will fall for Adrian! Although he has a wild past, you can see how much he's changed. The relationship Adrian has with Kat's daughter, Abbey, is especially swoonworthy.

The supporting characters of Kat's friends are funny and charming, and even though there are a lot of them, I wasn't confused by trying to keep track of names, which I often find happening in other books. Jess does a great job of giving all of the sub characters unique personalities but not overwhelming the main story.

Overall I highly recommend Louder Than Love! Sexy, fun and heartwarming all at the same time.
