Resenha da Amazon.com.br

After reading this book, I guarantee that you will never visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art (or any wonderful, old cavern of a museum) without sneaking into the bathrooms to look for Claudia and her brother Jamie. They're standing on the toilets, still, hiding until the museum closes and their adventure begins. Such is the impact of timeless novels . . . they never leave us. E. L. Konigsburg won the 1967 Newbery Medal for this tale of how Claudia and her brother run away to the museum in order to teach their parents a lesson. Little do they know that mystery awaits!

Descrição do produto

2017 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the beloved classic From the Mixed-up files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.

When suburban Claudia Kincaid decides to run away, she knows she doesn't just want to run from somewhere, she wants to run to somewhere -- to a place that is comfortable, beautiful, and, preferably, elegant. She chooses the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Knowing that her younger brother Jamie has money and thus can help her with a serious cash-flow problem, she invites him along.

Once settled into the museum, Claudia and Jamie find themselves caught up in the mystery of an angel statue that the museum purchased at auction for a bargain price of $225. The statue is possibly an early work of the Renaissance master, Michelangelo, and therefore worth millions. Is it? Or isn't it? Claudia is determined to find out. Her quest leads her to Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, the remarkable old woman who sold the statue, and to some equally remarkable discoveries about herself.

I love this book. It is one of my all time favorite children's books. When I was teaching school, I read it to the class every year . We have an adventurous brother and sister taking off to the big city and begin living in one of the countries largest museums. They eventually help solve one of the mysteries surrounding a small statue.

My wife and I are reading all the Newbery winners, oldest to newest. This was one of the most delightful. This book is a joy. Two smart, precocious children run away and live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

There are not very many books that I have a clear memory of reading at a very young age and this is one of them. It left an indelible impression on me as a wonderful tale of adventure with suspense and a mystery thrown in. I did not recall the name and I think I googled "children's book metropolitan runaway" to find the title! I bought this recently to share with my 6 year old son and my 8 year old daughter. Tonight, I finished reading the book to my son and we both loved it. The magic and mystery are all there and the conclusion was even more fun for the fact that I didn't remember how it ended. Now my daughter, an avid reader, can enjoy it!

Presentation wise I'm undecided on the "Deckle Edge" paper. It does confer a nice feel to the book but it does make it tough to leaf through it looking for a particular page.

I could not more highly recommend this book. Buy it now to share it with your kids, to relive part of your childhood, or both!

I love this book. So did my 11 year old granddaughter. Through a grand idea to runaway Claudia learns how to value her brother and she also learns the great lesson of keeping a secret to herself. The reader sees Claudia turn from a complaining twelve year old girl into maturing youth capable of appreciation for her life and the wonderful art discovery revealed to her that she may one day inherit.

We read this so quickly! This was our nighttime book a while back ago. It's such a fun story that I never stopped at one or two chapters because I wanted to know how it ended too!
One night one of the kids fell asleep and I was so interested I kept going with a "too bad so sad" attitude.
I would totally run away to a museum after this book!
