Resenha da Amazon.com.br

As the inhabitants of Redwall Abbey bask in the glorious Summer of the Late Rose, all is quiet and peaceful. But things are not as they seem. Cluny the Scourge, the evil one-eyed rat warlord, is hell-bent on destroying the tranquility as he prepares to fight a bloody battle for the ownership of Redwall. This dazzling story in the Redwall series is packed with all the wit, wisdom, humor, and blood-curdling adventure of the other books in the collection, but has the added bonus of taking the reader right back to the heart and soul of Redwall Abbey and the characters who live there.

Magical, mystical, and the stuff of legends, this stunning tale of good battling with--and ultimately triumphing over--evil takes the reader on a roller-coaster adventure that barely draws breath from the first page to the very last. Brian Jacques is a true master of his craft. --Susan Harrison

5.0 de 5 estrelas and the world building is quite beautiful. This story grabbed me 25 de julho de 2017

Redwall by Brian Jacques is the first installment of the series Redwall. Redwall Abbey is home to peaceful mice, and other woodland creatures. When their abbey is threatened by Cluny the Scourge, the peaceful residents of Redwall Abbey have to defend, and fight for what they hold dear.

I absolutely adored this story! The creatures came to life on the pages, and the world building is quite beautiful. This story grabbed me, and wouldn't let go. There were moments when I laughed out loud, and there were moments when my heart was broken. There were a few grammatical errors, but did not hinder my flow of reading at all. This is a wonderful middle grade fantasy story; I highly recommend it.

5.0 de 5 estrelas Redwall Review -- Fantastic Book! 22 de dezembro de 2013
Por AbbyJoy - Publicada na Amazon.com
Formato: Capa comum Compra verificada
Redwall has been one of my favorite books and series since I was a kid. No matter how old I get, it never gets old. I love that regardless of your age, Redwall is a book that is enjoyable for everyone. I have friends who read it as kids and are still periodically reading them as adults. I am fully convinced that Redwall is and will continue to be a classic.

Redwall, the first book in the series, revolves around the adventures of a young mouse named Matthias. Matthias lives at Redwall Abbey, a peaceful sort of place dedicated to helping woodland creatures in need and living in peace in Mossflower. All this is shattered when the notorious rat Cluny the Scourge shows up on the scene, dead set on conquering the abbey and enslaving its inhabitants. It's up to Matthias to step up and lead his fellow creatures to victory over the rat and his horde, with the help of relics left behind by the deceased Martin, the Warrior of Redwall.

I'm very glad I stumbled upon this old favorite and got the chance to read Redwall again! Highly recommended to all ages! I borrowed this book, and therefore was not required nor asked to write a review, nor a positive one at that. I was not compensated for this review.

5.0 de 5 estrelas Redwall by Brian Jacques 12 de novembro de 2014
Por Vivian - Publicada na Amazon.com

Redwall is the first volume in a series of 15 books that Brian Jacques wrote for a group of orphaned blind children in Liverpool, England that was fortuitously published. It is stated to be for a youthful audience, but it is my experience that it holds charm for all ages. It is beautifully written, well constructed and the tale delightfully resolves so that the reader comes away pleased and reassured that the time was well spent reading the book.

The world of Redwall is good and caring, the way we would want the world to be if we could have an environment where those around us cared for the well-being of each other and those who were evil were well defined and doomed for defeat. The characters in Redwall are forest creatures from a mythical and medieval time. The scenes are set in an abbey and a forest. From there we are invited to follow the machinations of those who live in Redwall Abbey and those who try to destroy the tranquil life of those who inhabit the abbey.

I used the book with advanced non-native speakers for the charm of the book, the fast-paced plot and the delight of both the the characters and the well-written language. I question whether this series will go down as classical literature, but as Dickens has made his mark on English literature, I suspect that Jacques may well find his place in English literature also. There is also a video series on YouTube that makes it easier for students to follow the flow of the story should they wish to use it. t

Children find the story engaging; my students were equally delighted with the novel and I was pleased to find something that kept the interest of my students as well as building their vocabulary base.

3.0 de 5 estrelas Difficult to enjoy as an adult 31 de maio de 2012

I bought a used copy of this book (here on Amazon) a few weeks ago, and I wasn't able to get into it. Now, to clarify: I am a 22 year old English major who loves fantasy. I tried reading it when I was much younger, and could not emerse myself into the series or really enjoy it. As a young adult, I figured that giving the series a second go would be prudent. My roommate, who has great taste, swears by Redwall so I picked up the first book and read it from cover to cover. But I did have to force myself: this is clearly a children's chapter book. While I see why people love the series and why it's lasted the test of time, I wouldn't recommend it to readers over 15 or so. The sentences are very short and direct, with simple language and rather rudimentary elements. Characters are very basic, and the plot is predictable.

However, I would very much recommend the book for young readers. It is creative in the same way that NIMH was creative (you could almost think of Redwall as being a history before NIMH, in a way), and has a few funny moments. My niece recently discovered Arthurian stories, and is eight, so I'll be giving her my copy.

5.0 de 5 estrelas A series that changed me! Can't wait for my children to read them. 19 de janeiro de 2010
Por April Schodowski - Publicada na Amazon.com

I started reading the Redwall series my freshman year in high school. A little late, but I didn't much like to read and my bookworm boyfriend thought I'd enjoy them. So glad I did! I loved the stories and characters so much and it honestly helped me in a time of a lot of confusion for me. I had lost faith in... everything. I fell in love with the relationships they had and the community they created in the abbey. I wanted MY family to be closer and live in a way where the members support the whole.
It also let me believe that even without religion, a group of people could live harmoniously and spiritually. That sounds so silly when you think about it as a bunch of animals but the world Brian Jacques creates can really speak to some people... and it did to me. Not only that, the adventures were fun and the storyline very entertaining I think to both children and adults. I soon began reading so much more and now I have a whole room dedicated to a library. You hear how Harry Potter did that for many children and teens... The Redwall series did that for me! Now I'm a teacher and a mother and I try to spread the joy of this series wherever I can! Thanks so much to the inventive author who changed me to the core.
