Descrição do produto

SG- Suicide Game is a metaphor about the society where persons almost kill themselves to achieve their goals and forget their dreams, but, in the book you will find also real love, friendship, loyalty, hope and an unexpected finale showing the good essence of the human seed.

Eight thousand candidates sign up for the Suicide Game. Only one can win. Their destination is the Night Stadium: a place of makeup and music, fear and adrenaline, blood and romance, celebration and death. Each candidate has his or her own reason for entering the Game.

The Council runs the Game. The outcome of the Game is left to fate...in the laps of the gods. The candidates will jump to their deaths in order to win everything, before capacity crowds in the Stadium. The public follows every jump, live on TV and mobile device screens, choosing their favorite candidates and betting on their lives. Who will win the game?
Candidate 0907 - Moma - the terrorist?
Candidate 1518 - Fabio Giovanni Cristiani - the cyclist?
Candidate 3507 - Anthony Henrik Gustav - the lawyer?
Candidate 4914 - Jens Plaato - the politician?
Candidate 4918 - Sarah Mondstein - the career woman?
Candidate 5151 - Bianca White - just a girl ?
Candidate 7195 - The Scientist?
…Or is it a completely different Candidate?

The Game’s community also includes geeks, mafia, makeup artists, master chefs, models, musicians, spies, terrorists, and many others.
It boldly imagines a place where death and denial are interwoven with hope, choices and the innate desire for happiness. Impressive in the totality of its vision, it is an exploration of the best and worst things in our lives, our nightmares, and especially our dreams.

Sobre o Autor

Artist, painter, writer, designer, photographer, performer...just...Haidji. As she was 12 she started to write her stories and poems in handwritten and hand painted books. Her stories create images in the reader's mind, as would a word be a brushstroke painting inside your imagination. There is a very spiritual feel to her work, almost an otherworldliness. A captiving blend of Brazilian flair, Teutonic precision and Dutch pragmatism makes Haidji's work unique, appealing and thought-provoking. www.haidji.blogspot.com

This is the " SG Suicide Game", not "The Hunger Games". You may think that SG is just like THG, but no, it's not. SG has a unique story. In SG, no one is oppressed, no one is rebellious. Every candidate has his own story, and reason why he joined the Suicide Game.

The choices of words are great. There are no confusing scenes.

I love how the author portrayed the candidates. She knows how to make every part of the story move. She knows how to gradually unfold suspenseful events for her readers. It is a great and very intriguing read!

4.0 de 5 estrelas An Imaginative and Thought Provoking Book 14 de dezembro de 2014
Por David A. Budka - Publicada na Amazon.com
Formato: Capa comum Compra verificada
Suicide Game is an imaginative and thought provoking work. While it might appeal more to teenage and twenty year old audiences, it still might be liked by older readers.
The story takes place in the near future, in a global economy where people lose most of their individuality, and their self worth. Suicide Game is a reality show where contestants jump, either to live or die, depending on chance or the whims of "the Council." However, other persons and factors enter into the equation as to whether a given contestant lives or dies.
This work of fiction explores the human condition, and the thoughts and circumstances that drive people to commit suicide. In this case, to enter into a gladiator-type reality show in a modern, high tech Colosseum. Lost love, bitterness, personal pain, denial, injustice, uncertainty, and the world's inconsistencies are the primary motives. The Council exploits the participant's will to die for their own profit, while the audience's need for excitement and participation makes them exploitable as well.
Haidji explores a wide variety of issues in her book, human value, individuality, life, death, and birth. She even considers the possibility of machines becoming living beings, possessing the attributes of life and death.
Unintentionally, their is a couple of places in the book that brought me some levity. A robot in the book is named Alphabot, like a character out of the old computer game Lil' Howie's Great Word Adventure. Another was the use of the term "Milk of Amnesia" because it reminds of old Philip's Milk of Magnesia commercials. This was likely unintentional on the author's part.
Overall, it is a well written book, and it does keep the reader's attention. However, the Suicide Game mantra does become a little old after awhile.

5.0 de 5 estrelas Not Your Average "Games" 28 de fevereiro de 2015
Por Cayce Hrivnak - Publicada na Amazon.com

Now I have read negative comments about this story along with saying it's another "Hunger Games." It is not. There are more characters, development, great story, and idea than "The Hunger Games." It makes you think twice about signing up for a mysterious looking job posting.

We are welcomed into a world where a new stadium has been built. But in this stadium, an event is taking place that is no ordinary event. Many people are signed up for the first "Suicide Games" where your survival depends on how high and far you can jump. Those who say that there should be more obstacles than jumping, think about it. After you jump for a long period of time, you get exhausted and worn out from it and eventually you fall.

I enjoyed the character background stories and grew to love some of them and hate some of them. At one point I was stifling a cheer for one of them. Give this book a chance, you won't regret it.

Review of SG Suicide Game

SG Suicide Game by Haidji will make you stop and think about your life. It is very deep and imaginative and well written and will put your mind to work. Imagine 8000 people signing up to kill themselves in a game and then try to imagine people betting on different “candidates” to see who will win.

Sounds like the debacle of toxic mortgages or Bernie Madoff stealing from widows and holocaust survivors or people working their entire productive lives for a company which then throws them out with nothing like an Enron.

This book will make you think. About what make people want to commit suicide. About how hope and despair can battle within one. About what is important in your life.

Kudos to Haidji for another fantastic read. The individual character sketches are like little books within the whole novel. You’ll even hear about Trump tower, successful lawyers facing death and leaks of important stories to newspapers. How timely! Read this book. You’ll be glad you did. 5 Stars.

5.0 de 5 estrelas Buy it and Read it (and then read it again). Amazing !! 18 de fevereiro de 2017

SG - Suicide Game is a unique, superbly written, thought-provoking work of literature. It is not "mass market fiction", even though it's very easy to read. It is fast-paced, captivating and thrilling. Underneath the surface lie the many layers of the plot, revealing themselves in intricate ways; the way only Haidji can do, with her amazing prose and occasional use of poetic styles. The reader has plenty of room to create their own visual imagery, as if each reader is the Director of their own film version of the book. SG - Suicide Game occurs in the near future. It explores the human condition, including loss of individuality and self-worth, subjugation to "the system", exploitation, love (lost and found), emotional pain, robots (becoming conscious beings), death and birth, and redemption (maybe for all of us?). The characters in this book are amazing, even including the robot (Alphabot), so everyone will have their own favorite (or most disliked) character(s) which again, makes this work of fiction very "real". Now, to address a couple of key points from other reviews: (1) A small minority of reviewers have remarked that the Suicide Game “mantra” becomes a little old after awhile. But like with everything about Haidji's work, we need to think and reflect more deeply: why is Haidji doing this? She gives us a hint ("NLP"), but maybe there is even more to it than that. So, as usual, Haidji's writing tactics are spot-on and if we didn't "get it", it's on us. Indeed, recent events only prove her point: with the cable "news" cycle, don't we often just surrender and believe, hearing repetition after repetition, or we don't hear (or appreciate) the words any more? (2) Many reviewers emphatically say that SG - Suicide Game is nothing at all like "The Hunger Games", and they are correct: there is no similarity in any way, except for the coincidence of four letters (game). This message needs to be emphasized for the benefit of persons who aren't yet familiar with Haidji's books. Haidji is the real deal, a totally original author and amazing and unique storyteller. SG - Suicide Game is from an entirely different (literary) universe than THG. So go buy SG - Suicide Game and read it, and then read it again. You will have a great read, and I predict that pretty soon you will be exploring Haidji’s other books, too.
3.0 de 5 estrelas An interesting take on the rat race of life, ... 21 de junho de 2017

An interesting take on the rat race of life, this thriller introduces the idea of the “Suicide Game.” An event in which 8000 participants volunteer to risk their lives to be the one left standing. The book introduces us to the top 7 participants and gives us their own individual reasons for attending the game. Both breathtaking and unbelievable, this book very much captures the pain of ambition and paints it very well in a variety of ways.
