I found this book hard to put down. It's one of the best apologetics books I've ever read. Harding uses logic and critical thinking to pick apart "theories" put forth by many of today's prominent scientists. Although Hawking and his theories are the focus of the book, Harding also brings up the work of Richard Dawkins, Charles Darwin, and others as they are very relevant to the book's central theme. I was very impressed with the breadth of materials that Harding cites in this book and the reasoning he uses to debunk commonly-accepted ideas in science, which are often called theories but don't meet the criteria for being theories in the first place.
I thought Harding wrote the book really well as it read less like a science book and more like a detective story as he sifts through the evidence at hand. It's a page-turner and I had a very hard time putting it down, despite some of the "heavy" scientific topics presented within and jumping across different disciplines. Harding makes the science understandable--at least as understandable as possible; some of the ideas he critiques are way out there!
I also thought Harding's own theory, presented towards the end of the book, is perhaps the most plausible tie-in between what the Bible tells us about God and what real good science reveals that I've come across. His theory alone is worth the book's purchase price, in my opinion.
Harding is not only a great writer but also a great illustrator. This book contains many excellent pictures and diagrams to complement the text, which (I believe) Harding created himself.
I bought the Kindle version, and the one quibble I have with it is that it isn't indexed. There's no way to easily go to a chapter like in most other Kindle books; I have to either jump between my highlighted text passages and bookmarks or swipe across the screen to "turn pages" until I'm where I want to be. I'd like to see this fixed if possible, perhaps in an updated version for Kindle. [EDIT: On a Kindle device, you can "Go To" the book's Table of Contents and then tap a chapter to jump to it. That's good enough for me.]
Overall, this book is totally worth reading in my opinion. It's definitely one I plan to reread in the near future. I also plan to read Harding's other books, since this one piqued my interest in them. (He includes brief summaries of a few of them in this book, as well as a chapter from one as an appendix.) As another reviewer commented, it's a shame that the "big wigs" of the scientific community sell tons of books full of fluff while a book like this one is underrepresented and mostly unknown to the public at large. Do yourself a favor: read this book and get enlightened!
Seems like R. Penrose and Hawking are selling more books than this SUPERIOR ANALYSIS OF THE ROOTING.
Sorry for the clowns stills depending of stupid CONJETURES without serious support!!!!!
