I did finish the book, but can't say that I liked anyone in particular. Toward the end, Lucy and Jens were at least being decent to each other, but then goes the final blow up and back to jackass and brat we go. Sorry, but this one just didn't do it for me.
I spent $30 on the series and regret it. I am really uncomfortable with how the male characters were depicted and how Lucy responded to them. Aside from her twin, there was something seriously wrong with each of them. Lucy, the main character, is torn between two men; one a drug addict, the other a misogynist. In the first book, a character mentions the addiction and it doesn't set off Lucy's radar. The author obviously doesn't know much about addiction. The addicted character mentions that he was given a small amount of the drug to offset pain and assures her that it won't be a problem. Addicts can't do that. He really went off the rails at one point and she forgives him. That is pretty much Lucy's MO, the men seriously screw up and she forgives them every time. The misogynist back hands her and she blames herself for provoking him. Another character kidnaps her and leaves her with people who torture her. Again, she forgives him, because he had good intentions. She discovers she has another brother that she had never met and he turns into a perverted stalker. This series appear to be aimed at young women, but the message it sends is just wrong.
Several of the books are very short. I wondered if they had been one book and then later split up. There are continuity issues as well. For example, Lucy is asked by a servant if she is a "Mare." She responds that she isn't despite the fact neither she or the reader had been introduced to the concept. We find out what a mare is later.
I dislike writing negative reviews, because I know how difficult it is to write. I wish the author luck, but this wasn't for me.
