I have family members that have developed gluten intolerance and was also looking for ideas to clean up my own diet. This book not only tells a story about discovery of good food without all the processed "crap" we force our bodies to deal with every day but does so in a beautiful upbeat way. The Seasame Seed sauce recipe is worth the entire price of the book. I had never heard of nutritional yeast - okay I had but never gave it a thought. Now, it is my secret weapon. I'm thinking twice about what I make for my husband and Imand the food is beautiful, easy and approachable from a cooking and a taste standpoint. This is right next to my Smitten Kitchen and Alice Waters cookbooks. Very well thought out and photographed. I've even given a couple of copies as gifts. yum!

Theresa Nicassio’s cookbook YUM is full of terrific and easy recipes, all completely plant-based and gluten, sugar and dairy free (a “veganized Djokovic diet”). However, it’s quite likely that you will end up enjoying it as much for its other wonderful qualities: the gorgeous photos (set it out on your coffee table - oops! - I mean tea table), the author’s personable and inviting writing style, and her sense of creative adventure. Indeed, Theresa’s account of her experimentation (including the failures) will inspire you to “be like Theresa” or at least to adopt her as your culinary mentor.

This is not your grandmother’s recipe book. YUM is decidedly modern in its choice of new (substitute) ingredients and clever techniques. I found the sections at the ends of the book (“Funky Ingredients”, “Terrific Tools” and “Special Diet and Allergy Chart”) particularly useful and revelatory. Did you know about avocado oil, bean pasta, chicory root inulin powder, Himalayan salt, chick pea miso, massaging kale, spiralizers, soaking and dehydrating,…? I can’t wait to try these things!

I collided with Theresa on Facebook as we were following the same types of posts, primarily nutritional. Soon she announced she would be publishing a cookbook and I preordered when the hardbound ready to be released. What I want to stress is that this is not "just another cookbook" but a philosophy about LIFE & food as path to healing. Whether you are struggling with food sensitivities or outright allergies, diabetes or autoimmune disease, this is a wonderful collection of recipes spanning low carb, gluten free, non-dairy. Emphasis is on a plant-based diet without pushing any agenda other than health!!! I love the beautiful hardbound edition I received, it is worthy of "coffee table" display. Loved it so much, I bought the Kindle edition as I find myself using my tablet in the kitchen frequently to refer to recipes, techniques & ingredients. You will not be disappointed with either version: Kindle for ease in the kitchen & hardbound for planning menus and enjoying the eye candy photography. Oh & by the way, the recipes are scrumptious, from main dish to desserts !!

What I love about this book is, that the author introduces herself and her family to us, allowing us to know why she was compelled to write the book in the first place.
The recipes are easy to understand and the narratives are very interesting.
I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is seeking a healthier lifestyle. Y
ou don't have to be a 100% Vegan or even a vegetarian.
You could introduce 50% of these recipes into your diet and still benefit greatly.

Wow! I perused the book and these recipes are amazing--I can't wait to try more. Love the Special Diet/Allergy and Conversion charts--the photos too. The Funky Food section is helpful to have--full of great information.

In the next edition (I hope there is one!), it would be helpful to have another level of headings in the Table of Contents, so one can see the recipes there and click on the one desired directly from the Table of Contents. It would also be good to have the headings stay with the text on the next page, and all ingredients together on the same page as well. A suggestion to have the lists of recipes in alphabetical order at the beginning of the chapters and more condensed so all of them fit on the page (if possible).
