Sobre o Autor

Marissa Vicario, AADP, is an award-winning, board-certified Integrative Health and Nutrition Coach, healthy living blogger and Women's Health & Lifestyle Expert. As the Founder of Marissa's Well-being and Health, she is passionate about teaching women to trust themselves to make nutritious, slimming and energizing choices without resorting to fad diets and all-juice cleanses. Her tips, recipes and expertise have been featured on The Dr. Oz Show, The New York Times, Entrepreneur Magazine, Glamour and Next Generation TV among many other women's lifestyle publications. After spending a decade and a half as a junk food vegetarian and raging sugar addict, Marissa Vicario discovered whole foods and the way they made her look and feel. Her desire to live a cleaner, healthier lifestyle was so strong, she broke out her hand-me-down pots and pans and dull cutting knives and taught herself to cook in the kitchen of her Manhattan studio apartment. In the process, she learned that food changes everything and single-handedly transformed the trajectory of her life from the inside out. It wasn't long before she decided to study holistic nutrition and make it a career. As a member of a monthly Spiritual Book Club in New York City, I had the good fortune of having had this book assigned to me (but, then again, aren't all books assignments?). To be completely honest, I cringed upon first sight of the book's pink-hued Carrie-Bradshaw-meets-Gabby-Bernstein cover, because, after all, Your Holistically Hot Transformation seemed to be a departure from the "profound" spiritual works we had been reading recently. Now, I'm no ascended master, but I know enough at this point to surrender my resistance (and my grandiosity) when I have noticed that I have formed judgments about something in advance of experiencing it. So, I gave the book a chance. And, boy, am I glad I did.

In Your Holistically Hot Transformation, Marissa Vicario offers us a simple, straightforward, nutritious, delicious, and, best of all, FUN guide to eating well and to feeling light and free in our bodies. She relates her own story of having hit nutritional and spiritual rock-bottom -- junk-food vegetarianism, fro-yo suppers, and exercise mania -- in order to demonstrate that absolutely anyone can make revolutionary changes in their eating habits out of nowhere. She challenges us to make substitutions, additions, and subtractions with respect to the go-to convenience foods in our diets, and she shows us that eating well is easy and can taste amazing. (Her Awesome Sauce recipe? Yeah, it really is awesome.) She introduces us to ingredients and super foods we didn't know existed (hello, tempeh), and invites us to approach our weekly grocery-shopping errand as a kind of meditation or exercise in self-care. Because her nutritional advice is grounded in spiritual practice, these changes, if we take them on, have the power to affirm the self on all levels of being.

I highly recommend Holistically Hot to those who are looking to get serious about living a healthy lifestyle! Everyone from those who are new to holistic care, fad diet addicts, and those who just want to live a more fulfilled life alike, this book has great tips to start, stay on track and continue making better choices for optimum health. I consider myself pretty health conscious for almost ten years now and Marissa's book even gave me useful information, without being overwhelming, on WHY her tips will indeed improve my overall well being physically and emotionally. Just what I needed to start the new year! Also, finally a book I can share with friends about whole foods and holistic living without them feeling intimated by the content!

This book puts things into prospective, in real life terms. Not a bunch of gimmicks, not a bunch of pill pushing. Rather a look a baby steps for lifestyle changes. She admits to eating out of the pan, not cooking, and lacking life. It happens and she gives you ideas on baby steps to slowly shift your life when your ready.
