”You are fierce, Valerie Stephens. A wild bird that could fly away but chooses to stay with me, and I am forever grateful for that. Believe me, I am.”
I just binged this book and I don’t regret it one bit! 😍 This was amazing!!! It was breathtaking, heartbreaking and made me sob like a little kid. This story emotionally ruined me. It was just so beautiful!! I could not put it down.
I loved Valerie’s character, she was funny and so real. She was not the perfect girl and never showed off as such. She had a past that she tried to overcome daily and a part of her that she’d always have to work with and accept how she was. I enjoyed her sisters and I’m curious if there’ll be books about them, it would be really interesting.
This book is an emotional rollercoaster. It will leave you crying, laughing and, later, trying to process everything you read. I actually spent a few minutes just staring at the wall after this one.. it’s just so intense. I could feel my heart squeezing and aching for the troubles and the things they were going through. It was breathtaking.
I love Karina’s work and I’m happy I checked this new release. Also, my God, what a wonderful cover, right? I’m in love with it. It’s gorgeous and super fitting with the story. Anyway, amazing story and deserves a thousand stars.
KarinaHale did it again. I didn't think it could get better than her Nordic series, or Before I Ever Met You, which were my favorite Hale's books, but this one.... This one stole their place.
I can't talk much about this book without giving spoilers, and I believe you'll enjoy it more if you go into it without knowing much, so I'll just say it is beautifully written, with a deeply poetic prose at times, highly emotional parts, and a happy ending. It has family and heartbreak and illness and love and redemption. It's a full cycle. Plus all the Irishness of it, which is so adorable.
You can't go wrong with this book. I read it in one sitting.
One of the most emotional and beautiful stories I've read so far 💛 Karina Halle has a special way to tell you a story, and what she's done with Padraig and Valerie is incredible! It became one of my favorite books!
