This book left a bittersweet feeling on my mouth and I'm kinda disappointed. I'm giving 3,5 stars only because of the first 50%. The beginning was really promising and I could sense a beautiful story about epic love, life and death, but in reality I got some regular love, just because someone messed up the plot twist.
** SPOILER ALERT ** The h is adorable, funny, beautiful, has a really loud personality and is considerate. I really connect more to these type of character than to shy virgin girls. I love when a woman knows she can seduce, be sexy and literally plays with men. The H is the type of man I love: the whole alpha pack. He's successful, gorgeous, has a nice body, is a bit possessive and to top that is a single uncle (that is nothing sexier that a man taking care of a child). In the first half of the book the couple are knowing each other and beginning to fall in love, so you have angst, a lot of back and forth, jokes and sooo much sexual tension that I thought I would burn. The last 50% I was tired of the H, one second he was getting crazy with the h, the next he didn't know what he wanted. He left the h hanging so much that I was beginning to thought he didn't deserve her, but by 70% he said he put his head right on track, declared his love and said she could trust him, because he would't leave anymore. Then I was happy again, but I KNEW something was going on, the couple never ends happy at just 70% of the book. SO THE WORST PLOT TWIST HAPPENED: Brew (h's best friend) was Anna (H's first love who "cheated" on him and left him scarred for the past 6 years). To make it worse she was dying - for God's sake!!!!!! So who can imagine what happened? The H discovered that he was STILL IN LOVE with Anna/Bree and left again the h to take care of his own sorrow. Then Brew/Anna dies and leaves a letter to both of them (H & h), they find out there was never another man in Anna/Bree's life, she just lied because she was sick. Anyway, after that the H keeps sad another few weeks but then finds out he still loves the h, apologize to her and BOOM: they are back together to live happily ever after. Yeah, it was easy like that! I still need to explain what left a sour taste in my mouth? You can OBVIOUSLY see that the H was still in love with Anna/Bree and the ONLY reason they didn't marry and end up together was because of Anna/Bree sickness (and of course because she's dead). Everyone could see that the h was his second choice (to begin with he didn't have much of a choice). The ending just pissed me off more, the H said he would always love his ex, but loved the h in a different way. So, I don't know you guys but I HATE when I don't get the felling that the h is the H's love of life, his most precious thing of the entire universe, because YES I want that big kind of love that comes only once in everyone's life. And this isn't what happens here. So this is a well written book, with reliable and likeable characters, but who left me unsatisfied, because in the end I didn't get the kind of love I was hoping for - the extraordinary kind. What I got was a couple where the H was with the h just because his biggest love left him and was now dead.
