If you have capabilities and you like to fix, modify or create things on the spot this tool is perfect, it is one of Victorinox's general flagships and it is heavily discounted here on Amazon, the tools are easy to use, the whole is easy to replace, these things are known to last decades and if anything goes wrong the warranty service shouldn't disappoint you. All the blades are UK legal, the saw exceeds the "maximum" length for a legal blade to be carried without specific reason but it doesn't qualify as a blade due to it having a non cutting edge, no locking mechanism and obviously not being a blade. Make sure you know your rights since I'm sure plenty of officers would love to seize this for themselves.
I recently bought this as a gift for my husband and it is quality-and-functionality all wrapped up in a neat package. Having gone through all the functions, I honestly believe that in the event of an apocalytic event, if the only thing you had left in your pocket was this SAK Champ, you’d survive without a problem. There is everything but the kitchen sink on here. (It can even start a fire with the magnifying glass!) Beware the blades when opening and closing, they are lethally sharp (sliced my finger on day one!). If you or someone you love is into Camping/ Hiking/Fishing & Hunting/ DIY/ Hobbying, this is the perfect gift... it beats lugging around a heavy tool box. Victorinox quality ensures that this can last a lifetime with good care: use oil to maintain and get the leather belt-loop case to carry and protect your SAK. I bought the black case and a lanyard for the key ring, too. Highly recommended.
Swiss Army knives have always been top quality and the Champ is an excellent tool. Everything here is useful and even the small magnifying glass is good enough to light a fire with dry tinder / wood. Even something as simple as a hidden pin is a wonderful item to have for picking splinters and thorns out of skin as they are very irritating to remove when I'm outdoors. I bought 2 of these knives and one lives in my backpack with the other one being in my hunting backpack which contains all manner of fishing and trapping items. I also bought 2 leather cases which help keep the knife clean and a sharpener pen which works very well on this and other knives - you'll see them come up in related items and 'customers also bought' parts of this page and they are well worth buying too. Forget huge hunting blades - this is a real 'survival' knife. The only difference between the black and red versions of the Champ is the colour and price - all the tools are exactly the same. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I got my first swisschamp knife in 1987 , at that time this was a new model by victorinox and cost me £79.95 ! Well I got this one here on Amazon for £40.00 ! The quality is still the same. There are some changes to it , the magnifying lense is a clear plastic housing with a high quality glass lense ,this was changed a couple of years ago from a rather poor one piece Clear plastic effort ? The only other real change was to the file this is now stainless steal the old one being chrome plated and quite brittle ! So this is a real improvement, watch your nails ?This time I got it in black as this was the offer and smart it is ! Ordered Friday got it Sunday , amazing service again from amazon This is one of those perchases that is worth every penny and more over the moon ! Five stars are not enough for this knife .........
I use this every day in many ways and it is really great to use. It is a little thick but with the number of tools that it holds it's to be expected. I have used a lot of the tools at least once and it is amazing the number of times that you find a reason to use it. The quality of the tools is excellent as you would expect from this manufacturer and the replacement options for tools is very good. I will no doubt buy another one as I am beginning to love having one and I can see me getting a collection of the different colours that they manufacture as they are so good.
Bought this for my husband as he has a similar one with less functions that he uses almost daily in construction work and needed more.
After he was given this one he fell inlove with it. Within a day he had used almost half of the functions and says it's very well made. The numerous functions allow to have an alternative when there aren't tools around.
It comes very handy when on camping trips too. Victorinox know how to make quality swiss army knives and this is a diffinate recommend.
In terms of medium sized EDC tools, it really doesn't get better than the Champ. All of the main tools you would expect from a number of different Victorinox knives are in this one. It therefore includes a couple of rare combinations, such as the magnifying glass, pliers, scissors and pen. I have used this model for many years and it has always served me well. The steel is of high quality (a little soft but this allows for easier sharpening while also being less prone to rust) and the build is solid. You won't find anything quite as good at this price point.
It's fat...... With a pouch it can be an everyday carry but I wouldn't suggest carrying in your pocket. It's got so many things on it that I spend half my time finding what I need..... But when buying this I assume like me you are prepared for the minor inconvenience of its chunkyness and have done your research just to have this high quality plethora of tools to play with
Review? Why! This is the top of its class. Period. I've never been without a Champ for the past forty+ years and when I lose it/have it stolen/given away to a deserving person then I get straight back on and order another. I suspect the one I've just received is the fourth (or fifth?). The most useful inanimate item in my life.
Arrived as ordered. It’s made to the usual quality so no issues of concern. It is a little large and heavy for a trouser pocket, but I put up with it ! Ideally I’d like a model with some tools omitted to reduce the bulk, but I couldn’t identify my ideal model in the current line up.
