This is a spin off from the amazing TV show "The X-Files." Although not as good as its parent show, it is nevertheless a great show in its own right. The characters Frohike, Byers and Langley are a team of computer scientists who are keen to unlock the secrets behind every conspiracy theory. The show has funny moments and is a bit like a geeky version of James Bond. Its first episode had glaring similarities to the 9/11 plot six months before the real tragic event unfolded in real life - now there's a conspiracy theory for you! Loved this show - it's a shame they only made one season.
Didn't really watch on TV at the time, watched on YouTube in 2018 and thought not that bad. First viewing there are things to criticize, but often putting the DVD on in the background, all those criticism become its charm, something familiar, relaxing again charming.
The only reason for 4 stars is no season 2, 3, 4, 5, as it only found its footing the best was yet to come.
I could imagine The lone Gunmen investigating Stargate command, maybe someone will write that book. Great show, one day hopefully a remastered blueray edition, but for now this is a cult show.
I loved these characters when they were in the X-files and when I discovered that they had a spin-off show of their own I had to check it out. Some really great stories and a chance to get to know the Gunmen better. A great mix of comedy and truth-seeking, such a shame that there are only 13 episodes, or 14 if you include "Jumping the Shark". IMO this show could have run for at least three seasons and it would have been awesome to see a cross-over with them and the Winchester brothers from the Supernatural show.
Enjoyable spin-off that actually had me burst out laughing on occasion. That said, I would have preferred if the Gunmen themselves were more of the focus, rather than their annoying sidekick Jimmy and the boring femme fatale Yves.
A great box-set of the 13 episodes of the Lone Gunmen, an amusing X-Files spin-off featuring the quirky and dysfunctional characters of Langly, Frohike and Byers, plus sidekicks (Jimmy, an irritating (in my opinion) idiot and Yves who often saves the day). I really enjoyed every episode, apart from the last one where it became clear there could never be a Series 2! They'd sort of run out of ideas by then anyway, truth be told. I got mine for less than £20 which I'd say is good (but not great) value.
This spin-off had a lot of potential, but doesn't quite make the grade. I enjoyed it, and was disappointed at the abrupt ending (the series ends with a cliffhanger that should have been completed in the second series - had there been one), but it could - and should - have been a lot better.
