THE BOOK IS A REASONABLE READ BUT MANY TIPS AND STORIES ARE REPEATED IN DIFFERENT SECTIONS OF THE BOOK. A VERY FOCUSED MAN WHO STOPS AT NOTHING TO ACHIEVE HIS AIMS. HAVE READ ABOUT THREEQUARTERS AND THEN GOT A BIT BORED.THAT MAY BE BECAUSE I HAVE READ SIMILAR BOOKS BEFORE. IF YOU ARE NEW TO BUSINESS AND WANT TO CLIMB THE LADDER YOU MAY ENJOY IT.
Trump feels like a dinosaur. Sexist. Petty. But still worth a read. I can't agree with his assessment of disloyalty. I also chuckled when he said Bill Clinton was a great friend and Hilary is 'great'. Is it disloyal of him to turn on her now? There's much in here if benefit if you can ignore the cheap shots.
Donald Trump - I was quite impressed from the way he succeeded in business. Actually, as I went to the US this year I saw his impressive buildings in Chicago, New York and other cities and therefore I decided to buy his book in order to understand the way he thinks.
The book itself is quite ok in the beginning and gets worse and worse as you reach to the middle. While reading, I often thought about putting this book in the trash as its horrible to read up to about page 200. However, as you reach for the last parts of the book, it becomes more interesting, even the writing style remains boring and horrible.
All the examples mentioned in the book deal with 2 points in his life that he repeats all the time 1. he lost all his money in the 1990s 2. his success in the Apprentice Therefore from a certain point you just are annoyed by reading endless repetitions about the two above mentioned points in his life.
To keep it short: The ideas and recommendations in the book are great! The writing style is just horrible and therefore it's tough to keep on reading.
I wanted to read this book to see if I could understand the President - I'm not much of a Trump fan, but his book confirms his aggressive, take-no-prisoners personality has not changed - he behaves today as he advocates to behave in this book. It actually is a pretty good insight into how his presidency is being conducted. He writes about 'when someone attacks you, double-down and attack back even harder'....not my style, but definitely what we have seen him do as President. In the book he is very candid about how he practically lost everything and was on the verge of bankruptcy - I found it very insightful to read about his thinking. I recommend folks read it, or at least part of it to better understand the personality and behavior we see in President Trump. (As for his business advice - I didn't find it very help nor positive. I got about half-way through then heard that he recently gave a medal to tiger woods and pardoned conrad black - two dishonest reprehensible thugs...I thru the book away at that point.
This book has a lot of the usual tips for business success but some Trumpisms that are unique. For example, the rule that a person always needs to get even with anyone that is disloyal or crosses you. Over time this dissuades people to do so. Also interesting is that Trump focuses on the downside potential of any deal and allows the upside to take care of itself. It is interesting to see Trump's way of thinking and how that translated into his successful Presidential run. One thing is for sure, he is consistent in what he says and does. Overall 3 stars due to the majority of the book being filler with some useful nuggets.
