'A Dog for Christmas' is a light and readable tale with the main theme being all about the bond between dogs and humans which can be unbreakable. Life suddenly changes for a young man living alone who is conned into taking in a heavily pregnant dog (Lucy) allegedly on a temporary basis. He knows nothing about keeping a dog and consequently is totally out of his depth. As the story unfolds there are themes of love, learning, trust and romance. The season of Christmas does figure in the story.I feel for me... it doesn't reach the impact of "A Dog's Purpose" written by this author. However it is a charming tale and eminently suitable for a "Christmas read"
Goodness a real weepie. Several times I had to get the tissues out. Sometimes glad tears, some tears of joy, and some of irritation at the callousness of some people towards their pets. I loved this book, as much as all four of the Dog's Journey and Purpose, Thank you.....please keep writing!!
I read this after reading A Dog's Purpose and thoroughly enjoyed this light hearted read. The author has such an insight into dogs, making his stories both believable and enjoyable. Gave me a really nice fuzzy, feel good feeling. I do like it when everything turns out good in the end. Next read is going to be A Dog's Journey for me.
I'm currently still reading this book, and loving it - so much so that I've been getting to bed earlier to do my reading :) This is the 3rd book I've bought by W Bruce Cameron and I'm totally smitten. My only disappointment is that when I've finished this book I don't think there are anymore yet to read by him about dogs. So hope he writes another soon!
