A história é quente e super divertida. Da pra sentir a atração entre os personagens e dar muitas risadas das situações hilárias que eles se metem! Simplesmente eu amei!
I know, I'm a lot behind since I just started reading Helena Hunting's books, but oh did it worth the wait!! I don't even know how to describe it!!
Violet was crazy! An adorable kind of crazy! Her mouth and mind don't know filter or limits, and she made me laugh so hard like I don't remember laughing about a book before ! I myself felt ashamed and blushed about some scenes, it was amazing and I kept my smile during the whole book!
Alex is hot! Like really hot! Like throwing-my-panties-away-because-they're-melting, I-need-to-find-this-man, is-there-an-Alex-out-there-waiting-for-me kind of hot! He is also so sweet!! He is always so polite, and considerate and respectful and that makes you think even more about not so respectful things to do to him! Not to mention his Super MC!! Yeah...a Super Monster C!!
I enjoyed the whole book and its plot. It was involving, light, really steamy and I didn't even notice the book was coming to an end! You just don't see how much you read it until you are almost finishing it! I'm crazy about this series, and I just read the first one! Helena Hunting just got a fan!
Sex and silliness; that’s what you’re getting from ‘Pucked’. With just a little less sex, I’d say it’s perfect. I know. What kind of erotica reader wants less sex. Well, me. But at least this is an enjoyable ride and the scenes don’t all bleed into one another. This is the first book I’ve read by Helena Hunting and I have to say I’ll be looking to read her works again.
Violet and Alex have strong chemistry from start to finish. But unlike some romance stories, Violet doesn’t allow her attraction Alex to override her sense of self-worth. I have to say that’s probably one of the things I loved most about this story. Violet pulled away when she saw things in Alex she couldn’t live with and Alex fought for her each and every time, proving himself to her every time. There are several ups and downs for the couple but they feel organic within the story. Another plus, if you ask me, as I’ve seen many stories like this one that felt forced, which distracted from my enjoyment. Violet is beyond quirky and sometimes I laughed, and other times I scratched my head. Thankfully for Violet, Alex seemed to understand her, even when I didn’t. I loved that no-one had to change or compromise who they were, to be in the relationship.
If you’re looking for a hot read, that sure to make you laugh, then I would definitely recommend ‘Pucked.’ Happy reading!
After having read A Lie For A Lie a couple of months ago, I realised that there was a series prior to this that I needed to read. Starting with Pucked, which centres around Violet and Alex, the reader is introduced to the original members of the Chicago Hawks ice hockey team.
Violet is the plucky yet awkward heroine who has caught the eye of the Hawks captain, Alex Waters. With her stepbrother Buck having just been transferred to the team, she attends a game with her parents to provide support, and her and Alex end up meeting at the after party. The thing I adored about this pairing is that they were both as awkward as each other. With Alex being a well known hockey player, I was expecting him to be arrogant, yet he was so adorably unsure of himself when it came to wooing Violet, I couldn’t help but love him.
After experiencing hurt at the hands of a hockey player in her previous relationship, Violet is wary about getting involved with Alex for fear of ending up just another ‘puck bunny’. I loved Violet with her quirky sense of humour and her inability to engage her brain to mouth filter. Even though she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, you could tell that she was hiding some deep insecurities and didn’t want to give her all to Alex to have it thrown back in her face. With an insanely inappropriate mother and a sassy best friend in Charlene, Violet manages to navigate her way to a far from boring relationship with Alex. And the steam between these pair, Christ, I was in fear that my smoke alarm would be set off. They also have some hilarious names for each other’s genitals, and there was a part toward the end of the book that made me snort laugh so hard I thought I’d need mouth to mouth.
A delightfully witty yet steamy read, Pucked was the perfect book to kickstart this series. I cannot wait to read about the other players in the team (and yes I have the second book in my Amazon basket already, don’t judge me I’m only human!).
Make no mistake about it, this book is complete and utter trash. Seriously, it's awful. The storyline is weak and the characters have very little depth and the vocabulary and phrasing used throughout the novel made something inside me shrivel up and die... But I had so much fun reading it! It made me laugh. It made me cringe. It was utterly nonsensical when I needed nonsense. It was sex with little substance interspersed with giggles and the occasional touch of sweet to balance the over the top media-induced relationship drama. Plus, there's hockey. I love hockey romances. They're my favourite kind of sports romance.
Ultimately, I think this is a book that people will love or hate. My advice would be don't take it too seriously, don't expect too much and just appreciate it for what it is - an over the top romantic comedy with a hockey backdrop. Oh! And bonus enjoyment if you can appreciate the crudeness and immaturity.
Without a doubt, this book is not for everyone, but the oddball humour made me laugh several times, and I was highly entertained throughout.
Violet Hall is the step-daughter of a sports scout and the step-sister of a professional Ice Hockey player, so she is very familiar with the lifestyles and reputations of the studs on the ice.
Alex Waters is the captain of the Hawks Ice Hockey team, and he is instantly drawn to Violet's awkward and quirky ways but it's up to him to convince her that his reputation is unfounded and that he is actually a stand up decent guy who is worth pursuing a relationship with.
After their steamy one night stand, Alex wants more and Violet is cautious but he is very hard to resist and so it's not long before fireworks are going off in the bedroom on a regular basis. _ _ _ _
Now, the heroine is pretty juvenile and is slightly obsessed with sex, 'jilling, off, Alex's Monster C0ck, and Beavers, but I still found myself liking her and her weirdness.
Alex was pretty awesome, plus he had a monster c0ck, what's not to like? :)
Overall, this book will either annoy the s*** out of you, or you will be entertained by it's LOL moments. For me it was well worth the read, and I am glad to add another author to my list.
