Like many of a similar vintage to me I’m now enjoying buying vinyl to replace downloads that replaced cd’s that replaced vinyl in the first place...still the best format!
Anyway, Yield is one of my favourite PJ albums, up there with their first three classics imo. Brain of J, Do the Evolution and MFC are great rockers but it’s the quality of the other songs that make it. Given to Fly is an absolute anthem whilst In Hiding, Faithful, Wishlist and Low light are all gems. Perhaps fewer experiments than on Vitalogy and No Code (Push me, Pull me, Red Bar aside) but just a great collection of songs.
A perfect companion to No Code (their previous album) with the souring melodies, but less of the Eastern vibe of No Code. There are a couple of great rockers on here, Brain of J which opens the album is one of their finest, and Do The Evolution, a concert staple, (although slightly out of place here), Yield's power lies in the laid back, mid-paced songs. Faithful & Given To Fly sour, Wishlist is beautifully hushed, and Pilate is one of their most unappreciated tracks. Later on we are treated to In Hiding, which contains quite possibly one of Pearl Jam's best choruses. All Those Yesterdays mellowly ends the album. A real open landscape feel to the whole recording, and I don't think they have managed to beat it since (though Lightning Bolt got close)
This is one of my favourite of the studio albums, along with Binaural, Riot Act and No Code. Studio albums aside I listen to Lost Dogs the most frequently. Tracks that stand out on this album for me are; Faithful, Given To Fly, Evolution, Low Light, Brain Of J and my very favourite........ All Those Yesterdays. Pure magic from my idols Pearl Jam. Enjoy!!
This is Pearl Jam's 5th studio album and also quite possibly their best! Great set of songs and superb sound quality it is definitely at least on a par with Ten and Vitalogy as one of their finest recordings. Highly recommended!
This is one of my favourite Pearl Jam albums. Just such a consistently high standard of writing & performance! Tracks like Faithfull, Given to Fly & Do the Evolution are included along with the awesome In Hiding, not to mention The Brain of J. I just love it & can't imagine how many times I've listened to it. would recommend it to anyone who likes decent music. Fantastic !
