This my first book from both authors and the first story about quarantine I’ve ever read! And I’m actually really glad I had the opportunity to read this. It had romance, slow burn, a hint of angst and specially a sensibility about the pandemic we are facing.
The story starts with the lockdown of San Francisco due to the virus and then going forward the story I was able to read how they reacted to various scenarios, such as: the anxiety of the unknown, financial problems, the shock of going out for the first time to buy groceries, the feelings when a loved one might get ill or even die. And I felt represented.
The story also had a lot of romance and steamy scenes! Evan is a pro football player, who just before the lockdown got involved in a huge scandal, one that can ruin his career and reputation. Now he is locked at his best friend home and ready to discover who is setting him up. Right there, he meet Sadie, his neighbor! Sadie is a romance writer who is suffering from writers block, that is, until she met Evan! Now she found her muse and it’s ready to write their story.
I loved both of them so much! They are fun, attractive, both supportive of their lives and caring how each other is handling the quarantine. It was also good that they weren’t able to touch each other for 14 days, so they got to find out a way met their desires while also getting to know each other, so the slow burn was brilliant.
I got emotional in this book, specially during the end. This virus situation is crazy and I truly don’t know how we are going to be when this is over. That said, I loved the ending! It was perfect considering what we are living, I would love for the authors to publish something in the future (when everything is over) to tell how they all are! Wishful thinking.
This is a book you need to read, it’s light and relevant.
Sadie saved this book for me, an author group I’m in suggested we read it and i was morbidly fascinated. I almost quit during Ethans first chapter but I hung in there cause I trusted the source of the recommendation. I didn’t like him at first and even throughout the book and with the overdose of pet names and whatnot there were a couple things he said that made me wanna smack him upside the head.
My attention waned, I skimmed, I cringed, I think this book is taking advantage of a situation that shouldn’t be taken advantage of and that while I have no problem with books like this, as I was reading I found myself thinking I have an issue with the timing of this book and books like it.
I also feel like it was rushed, could have done with more editing and a further proofread before publishing (curtains aren’t spelled with parentheses in the middle, for example) and some of the writing jolted me off the page. It felt rushed, the storyline, the production, pushing a book out so its relevant now.
This book helped me cement the fact that I want escapism from reality when I read right now, I don’t want to escape TO reality.
I’ve heard Kylie is a great author though and this definitely showed glimpses of hilarity and promise so I’d be inclined to check out her work.
Wow! I was absolutely blown away by this book! I couldn't put it down and read in one sitting! Kylie and Audrey's collaboration was a perfect slice of what life is currently like, struggling to get through lockdown and understand the confusion of the world at this time. Sadie is used to not leaving home as a romance writer whilst Evan is stuck at a friend's apartment when his world collapsed around him. Their burgeoning friendship turns into something special amid the chaos and makes their world perfect! Such a fantastic read that gives hope to the reader
Love Under Quarantine was a really great book. I was hooked from the start and did not want it to end. It's sweet, funny and emotional. Sadie and Evan are both great characters and I really loved their chemistry. I absolutely loved the story and would definitely recommend it.
Loved this read well written loved the characters of NFL running back Evan Sparks and Sadie Walsh Romance writer loved there chemistry under quarantine , Evan had got troubles of his own with his career but Sadie definitely was a distraction from a distance,
A brilliant story and well worth 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved the storyline and the wonderful characters and their connection with each other. Absolutely adored Sadie and Evan. They really and truly were perfect for each other.
We all wish we were so lucky to catch the eye and heart of the gorgeous, athletic, and nice guy living next door. Frankly, I’d just be happy to live next door to someone who fitted that description. So, that’s exactly what this story is about, coupled with the 2020 drama that is COVID-19 lockdown. It’s sweet, relevant, and romantic. Sex: eventually. This is COVID and our responsible protagonist wants to follow the quarantine guidelines about contact as advised by the medical professionals. Plot: bad boy athlete who is hiding out from the media after a scandal, just happens to get stuck there during lockdown. His only relief is the sexy, enigmatic, young woman next door, who just so happens to be a romance writer with severe writers block. She’s his distraction and way of coping, he’s her muse. World: the story is based in San Francisco USA and takes place during our current reality of hand sanitizer, and toilet paper obsessed pandemic quarantine. It touches on the mental health aspects of being stuck in doors, the risk essential workers are exposed too, and the non-believing idiocy of some of the population. Recommend: it’s a nice light read during a time of isolation with a current relevance that many romance readers can enjoy.
I’m a big fan of Kylie Scott and I generally love everything she writes. I enjoyed reading this book, it was sweet and funny despite the serious setting and some of the serious topics. While it’s not one of my favourite books she’s written it was interesting to read a book set under the COVID-19 quarantine setting.
I have no idea how authors write together at the best of times. Collaborating on a great book, quickly and under quarantine - this story was meant to be written. I loved the story, the characters and the ending. Terrific read!
