As I started reading this book, I thought that it would be all about a feel good type of story, you know, the one that leaves you smiling and such. But as the slow burn turn to high, Liam and January finally took their friendship to a whole new level and boom, that chemistry took its peak and my oh my, they are a very dirty little couple indeed. The British Vet, Liam and the carpenter, January were a very and loving couple that I liked to spend my afternoon with.
One of the things that I liked the most about this book is that the couple are both full grown up adults, so it took off the usually unnecessary drama of the story. It’s not to say that they didn’t have their ups and downs, because they did. They both had their minds fixed about what they want next for their lives and future, and they couldn’t be more opposite. Meeting the right person at the right time, sounds lovely, but that didn’t happened to them. What Liam’s wanted wasn’t what she wanted, not anymore.
So while they both had a lot of fun become friends, teasing and battering a lot, their connection was also growing at a speed that no one could ever deny. But it appears that they had to work a little more on themselves so they could figured it out the real extension of their dreams. Add to the fun, their kids Wednesday (seriously these girls names hehe) and Ethan, the small town gossip and people, the pets and you’re in for a lot of laughter and love.
At the end I also found out the Liam is Oliver’s cousin, gosh I’ve spent the whole without knowing this! Oliver is one of my favorite character from Lauren, she really doesn’t miss a trick. I was lucky enough to also listen this audiobook, Vanessa and Shane did an absolutely awesome job and their voices totally fitted the characters. I didn’t even cringe when they were talking as another gender!! That’s a super plus!
Duck Falls is a small town where everybody knows everybody and of course everyone knows what’s going on in everyone’s lives . January and her daughter Wednesday live in Duck Falls , January owns her own carpentry business and her daughter is very savvy around a computer ,the interaction between the pair is hilarious on times. The town is awash with gossip as the bungalow next door to January is about to welcome its new owner who is a very handsome man a British vet by the name of Dr Liam Harries and his young son Ethan . He’s moved to Duck Falls as he’s looking for Mrs Right someone who he can settle down with . Of course as the towns gossips are well ahead of him lining up all the potential candidates . It’s a slow burn love story and I agree with another reviewer that this would make a good rom- com tv film .
Book one The Dream Guy Next Door by Lauren Blakely (narration by Shane East and Venessa Edwin. British vet Liam and his son Ethan moves in next door to January and her daughter Wednesday. They instantly have a connection and I absolutely love that January is a carpenter independent women with a awesome kid. I love that she calls Wednesday spawn. Liam only been a dad a short time and I love that his focus in life is his son, family and vet practice. You can not beat the narration combo. Shane East is an amazing British narrator I wonder if her can do other British accents like Yorkshire? Venessa Edwin surprisedly pulls of a great English accent which I bet was hard to do with a fantastic Shane East. Driving into this series now I’ve found it.
As i listened to this on Audible I watched it play out in my mind and it is one of those books that I want to see on screen. I adore these small towns, with friends and neighbours who all know each other and when the hot new neighbour moves in next door, single but not ready to mingle with her neighbour January, she agrees to help him date.
I shall leave the rest for you to find out, a super flirty, romantic listen. I loved it.
A nice story which could have been embellished to make it longer. This was more the length of a novella. I read it in one day and that was not sitting reading for the full 24 hours. It was a free book but if I'd paid for this I would have felt cheated.
Just two people at different stages in their life wanting different things and working through it. That may sound boring but it really is a lovely story about finding yourself and 'the one'. It's funny, hot and lovely!
Lauran Blakely really is the queen of flirtatious dialogue and this book doesn't disappoint. Loved all the characters and it was nice that the two main characters were a little more mature than in many contemporary romances. I liked the way that the challenge in their relationship was navigated. Thoroughly enjoyed this book!
